A new Iggy Pop reissue campaign has come to complement the release of his new album, Every Loser. One such rerelease is 'The Passenger', arguably Osterberg Jr.'s most iconic track from his post-Stooges Lust For Life heyday. The twist is that this version is an alternative live recording: out on limited 7" vinyl, we're reminded of the values espoused by one Pop's best and most popular songs. Vagabondism, road trips, passing through, wanderers. An ode to insecurity and temporality, the song sounds as infectious as ever, especially when paired with a further sonic gem, 'China Girl', probably best known in its version from Bowie's 80s purple patch of hits. Note: these alternative versions are not available anywhere else.
