A note about my grading of sleeves - I DON'T use Mint or Near Mint grading on my records, UNLESS I know they have never been played. What most people might describe as M or NM I describe as EX . EX means flawless or nearly so. For each minor flaw type I lower it one grade, first to VG+ then to VG and then to G+. Minor flaw types include price sticker residue, minor creasing of the sleeve, promo holes or cuts, light fold marks, small tears or scratches, etc. I visually appraise each record and describe all flaws that I see in the Condition Description area of the listing. I consider the inner plain paper sleeve and outer plastic sleeves to be replaceable so do not bother to appraise their conditions.

Grading records - When preparing the records to be photographed I visually inspect the vinyl in strong lighting. In almost all cases, if I see even a small scratch I set it aside to be listed at a later date. I later listen to these scratched records in order to determine how much of a problem the scratch has caused. Of course, with certain records, most notably colored and transparent vinyl, it can be difficult to see small scratches. But I do my best to check for them.

I am selling off my record collection. Mostly they are all from the ‘90s and early ‘00s. I ran a small record label and distro back then, Fan Attic Records (based in Boston). During that time I was also a fanatical record collector.  I usually only played my records 2 or 3 times each. The first listen I made notes as to what songs I thought were good. Then I added those songs to my 100s of hours of mix tapes and stored the records away. That means each record, unless I bought it used, has been played no more than twice. I have not had a record player in about a decade now and the cases of records have been sitting in a cool, dry closet for all that time. Now I figure it is time to find new homes for the collection.

I will do my best to accurately grade the condition of the records, just be aware that I have no way to play them to check condition. I do know that when I was still playing them I put a sticker on the sleeve to note any skips I encountered on them. Records with these stickers will NOT be auctioned (though I may put together a lot of them at some time).

I will be shipping using mailers designed for records, from Bags Unlimited. For shipping and handling I charge $4 for the first and $1 each after that. I will use Media Mail or First Class, whichever turns out to be cheapest. For larger orders, if the s&h charge will cover it, I will upgrade to Priority Mail. In all cases I will include tracking. For orders valued over $50 I will include extra insurance.

As I have been deciding which records to list, many of the more obscure ones have been set aside. If there are any particularly obscure punk/alternative/rock bands from the 90s that you are interested in, feel free to ask about them and I will see if I have anything be them.
