This is a 1927 Blues/Gospel recording by the mighty Blind Willie Johnson, here billed as “The Blind Pilgrim”.
The songs are “Oh Lord If I Had My Way” and “Motherless Children”.
This is a pressing from (I think) the 1940’s and it sounds pretty grand!
These discs are as rare as heck and, in a long lifetime wasted digging through boxes in filthy garages and grimy cellars, this is only the second one I have ever seen. The other, which is everso slightly cleaner, graces my own collection.
I would grade the condition of this record as a very strong VG+++ although some unscrupulous ratbag dealer in a dimly-lit record fair would probably call it EX.
There are a few very light marks, which don’t sound on my gear, and there is some very slight greying of the grooves which matters not a fiddle-dee-dee, I reckon.
My filthy finger indicates a tiny blip in the original pressing, which occurs after the song has finished.
There is an amusing pre-decimal price sticker on the label, on one side.
I apologise for the high postage costs.
I pack EXTREMELY securely (and expensively) when mailing such fragile items.
The record in the photograph is the record you will get.
I have described the item to the best of my ability, and everything looks in very collectable condition to me, but please check the photographs to decide for yourself.
I am not a dealer. I am just an old bloke thinning out his record collection.
In fact, I’m probably selling most of ‘em for less than I paid for ‘em!
PAYPAL only Please.
NO OVERSEAS bidders please.
And NO OVERSEAS bidders using UK addresses please.
This is because I like my buyers to be happy bunnies. If there is a problem, I like to sort it out personally.
I can't do this if you're thousands of miles away.
Thanks for looking!
