SCOPE "GRAND BASSAM" - KILLER PRIVATE FRENCH MODAL JAZZ AFRO INFLUCENCE MINT
Playlisted by GILLES PETERSON on WORLWIDE
SCOPE : GRAND-BASSAM
LABEL / SERIES : André Records – AR 212621 , 1986, France
STOCK COPY. MINT / NM ---------------------------------------
Back in Stock ! Seldom seen obscure private modal jazz album by this quintet from Lyon. It includes a couple of excellent covers of Wayne Shorter "Witch Hunt" & "Speak No Evil" but the highlights comes from B side with the killer long modal tune "Grand Bassam" definitely in the same vein as local but excellent band like Jazz Group De Bretagne or Octet De Dreux with brilliant piano & deep sax solos. "Anodin et la lampe merveilleuse" and "Strasbourg-Dakar" are also really nice tracks. Minty stock copy. Beautiful discovery pressed in the 80's at a very small run. Recently playlisted by GP. Jump on it !
Actual soundclip of the record for sale !
