  The Attack were a freakbeat/psychedelic rock band formed in 1966 around singer Richard Shirman (born 26 April 1949, London). The first line-up featured drummer Alan Whitehead from Marmalade, guitarist David O'List (later of The Nice) and John Du Cann (later of Andromeda and Atomic Rooster). Their first single "Try It" had also been recorded by The Standells and Ohio Express. They also released a version of "Hi Ho Silver Lining", a few days earlier than Jeff Beck. Richard Shirman was invited to be singer with Andromeda but he declined.

  Released on the 27-1-67 this is an original and rare Decca Records Demonstration Not For Sale 45 single for The Attack’s UK debut single release, Try Me b/w We Don’t Know, on the Blue with Silver Printed Decca Record Labels.

  Both record labels are in Excellent Plus condition, undamaged record labels, with just a few light signs of play around the centre spindle holes.

  Side 1 & 2 very first mother stampers, 1 B, and 1 B.

  Both sides of the Demo single are in Excellent condition, there are a few hairlines visible on both sides, but nothing major and definitely no deep scratches .

 

  Play Quality:

  Both sides play with superb sound quality, without skips or clicks or annoying noise.

  The demo 45 comes in it’s original Decca Records Company Bag which has a small tear at the top, and a 2” seam split.

 

  This very rare single is not often seen and this one is in superb condition.
