The audio is truly stunning through out! Played prior to this listing at very loud volume on a top system, importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge!  The audio is graded at Very Near  Mint in my opinion!  No loud constant clicks or pops! The best sounding copy that I have heard! So rich and vibrant throughout! Looks and sounds like it has barely ever been played at all in my opinion!

John Lee Hooker (August 22, 1912 – June 21, 2001) was an American blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist.

The son of a sharecropper, he rose to prominence performing an electric guitar-style adaptation of Delta blues.

Hooker often incorporated other elements, including talking blues and early North Mississippi Hill country blues.

Hooker's date of birth is the subject of debate. He is believed to have been born in Tutwiler, Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, although some sources cite his birthplace as being near Clarksdale, Coahoma County, the youngest of the eleven children of William Hooker (1871–after 1923), a sharecropper and Baptist preacher, and Minnie Ramsey (circa 1880–date of death unknown).

The Hooker official website, however, indicates he was born on August 22, 1917.

The Vinyl
This is the original 1st issue thick and heavy, chunky and very robust type of vinyl, only found like this on the earliest original 1st UK pressings!
On initial visual inspection the vinyl looks absolutely superband I can't see or feel any scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops at all! Any marks that could possibly be seen would be light whypsy surface scuffs and sleeve removal type only.. ,  This lays perfectly flat on the turntable and are free from any warping. (Note! I have double checked this) The vinyl looks superb, still retaining its original glossy sheen from new.  (no) deep needle scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks/ticks or pops at all!

The Audio Quality
I have played the vinyl prior to listing on a top system at very loud volume importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge.! The audio is superbe cristal clear and very vibrant throughout! Top audio seperation on all frequencies only heard like this on early original 1st pressings! Note! This is the best sounding copy that I have heard,, so vibrant and clear, you will not find a better sounding album in my opinion!  Importantly there were no loud constant clicks/ticks, pops or any jumps truly awesome and very rare for a 1st pressing. Important note! Some of the tracks feature earlier recordings and allowances for static/crackle must be made.  The audio is graded at least excellent plus to Near Mint in my opinion!

PLEASE NOTE! I always add this disclaimer! I have played this album prior to listing as usual and have given my honest opinion on the audio quality. Please remember this is a 52 years old original vinyl (not a reissue) Please allow for the odd interference/static/crackle/tick but importantly nothing consistant through out the audio! Please remember  that this would have been originally played on a system that is 52years old!
All indications i.e. that this vinyl has (not) been overplayed and in fact looks and sounds like it  has had only minimal play only in my opinion , and the original mono audio quality superbe on all frequencies.

The labels
This features the yellow/orange "Pye International" labels. These are superbe Spidering can be seen angled to the light but this has had only minimal play in my opinion certainly not overplayed! little if (no) spindle ware!

The Record Sleeve
This is the original advertizing serpier Pye original paper record sleeve, No splits or tears light creasing/fading with age.   The vinyl is now always stored seperately from the sleeve.

The cover

The original 1st issue Garrod & Lofthouse  laminated front only,, rear flipbac  cover is absolutely superbe!  Rarely seen in decent top condition like this one. The spine is lovely and  square and all text can be read.  A truly superbe example rarely seen like this.!  Super glossy laminate No real nasty creases at all, just very minor thumb type only in the laminate . The rear is exceptionally clean and bright any wear and grubbyness you have to look for to notice in my opinion, and concidering its age this is very nice.  Any imperfections or indents are very minor and are not noticed unless looked for in my opinion.  Must be at least better than Excellent to excellent  Plus  in my opinion rarely ever seen like this after 52 years on this cover!
