A 1st Issue on the UK Capitol label from 1959. Matrix D5/D6. Stampers 1M/1O [indicating it is from the first 2,000 ever made]. Tax Code 'ET' => 1959. Remember - true stereo copies from the 50's are far far rarer than Mono. It wasn't until the mid-60's that stereo really started taking off. You might see other stereo copies of this album with a similar label, but if they mention 'Sold In the U.K..' they will in fact be from the mid-60's. This copy is the REAL DEAL and is a true STEREO 1st issue from 1959 and remains in incredible condition to this very day. The record comes housed in an original STEREO cover printed by Garrod & Lofthouse including Emitex inner sleeve.
Vinyl (Ex+) Wowzers someone's taken really good care of this LP! 57 years old, but by god you wouldn't believe it by looking or playing it....Under close inspection there's barely a mark either side. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are beautifully quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. The audio quality is beautifully rich with great dynamics. You're going to struggle finding one that plays anything like this. Interference is very very minimal we only detected a couple of light crackles the whole way through. It is a real corker in every sense. Audiophiles often prefer the STEREO 1st issue over the MONO.
Cover (Ex-) Yet again is beautifully preserved for its age. The only noticeable deterioration is the ageing on the rear - but this is almost impossible to avoid on these early copies due to their longevity. Lovely and shiny front with minimal edge wear. The spine is 100% intact and overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. I can't imagine there are many knocking around in this kind of condition.
