A 1st pressing of Gimme Shelter on the UK Decca label from September 1971. Matrix 1W/1W. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original cover printed by Robert Stace. Please note early pressings of this record mention the title track as 'GIMMIE' on the record label. This typo was subsequently corrected on all later reissues. Also included is the original blue and white Decca inner sleeve - date coded Sep 1971 - time of 1st release. So, this is 100% original and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In superb shape and has clearly only seen the lightest of use. Under close inspection we struggled to make out any needle marks - there is, however, on side 2 a number of ultra-light bag rash marks of no consequence. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with great clarity. The audio quality is superb and you're not going to get this quality on pressings as little as a couple of years later. Interference is minimal - we detected a touch of static in one or two places - very little of consequence
Cover (Ex+) Someone has really looked after this cover carefully down the years. A perfectly shiny front cover with hardly a crease or laminate lift. And a rear completely free of ageing. It practically has a new feel to it. The openings are still sharp and edge wear is practically non-existent. The spine is 100% intact an the cover retains excellent rigidity. Difficult to imagine bettering.
Inner (Ex-) No side splits and just a bit of ageing. Just a bit of wear at the opening.
