An original 1st stereo press of Beggars Banquet on the UK Decca label. Matrix 2K/1K. Stampers 1B/1U - which under the Buckingham system places this record amongst the first 1,000 copies ever pressed. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold cover. Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve date coded to October 1968 [code -108] two months before 1st release. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) A truly stunning copy and has clearly only seen the lightest of use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light mars - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. I think I can honestly say that this is the best stereo copy of Beggars I've auditioned. It is preserved to a very high standard with not a hint of background interference. Even the quiet sections [e.g. Factory Girl] playback very very clean and you can hear every last nuance right down into the mix. All we could detect was a couple of crackles the whole way through. FINAL UPGRADE on audio...
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and has been cared for down the years. Many of these covers suffer a good bit of ageing, but this copy seems to have avoided much of it and still looks pretty white. The only thing to note on the front is a couple of light indentations and that sticker residue mark in the top-left. The only issue on the rear is a slight patch of wear right down at the foot. The interior is in great condition. Edge wear is very light and practically all the text on the spine is still legible - which is very unusual on this title. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and remains a terrific specimen.
Inner (Vg+) No splits, but a bit of ageing.
