An original 1st press of 'Red' on the UK pink rim Island label. Matrix 3/6. Stampers 1-CP/2-RD. Etching 'Sean/Pecko'. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Robor printed pinched spine cover. Also included is the original blue Island inner sleeve - with correct address '22 St. Peters Sq'. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex) In great condition and has seen reasonably light use. Surfaces are lovely and shiny and there are a couple of light marks either side - one of which is just getting feelable. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. Crimson really needs to be heard on a clean well preserved copy otherwise it's not really going to 'cut the mustard'. Thankfully this copy is preserved to a high level and only exhibits one audible defect. Beautiful quality audio from this Island pressing and quite frankly I doubt there can be a better way to hear these dense complex sound forms. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Interference is very minor indeed and infrequent. The one vaguely noticeable issue is caused by a mark [the one noted above] at the mid-point of track 1. It creates a light tick [not a loud pop] which can be heard for roughly ten revolutions. It is not conspicuous, but it is just audible in the background. Given that this is relatively minor and brief, and the rest of the rendition is of such fine quality, it's certainly more than worthy of serious consideration particularly at this price level.
Cover (Ex+) In fantastic condition and certainly belies its 44 years of age. Lovely shiny front and back with barely a crease and only super-light handling. Edge wear is practically non-existent. The spine is 100% intact and those pinched ends really look great. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity and lies totally flat. Pretty much nigh on impossible to improve upon.
Inner (Vg+) Slight ageing at the extremities. One tiny split at the bottom edge.
