An original 1st press of LADYLAND on the UK Track label from '68. Matrix A1/B1/A1/B1. Please note labels are perfectly consistent with very 1st press. The tape number above the catalogue number is inverted and the sides are sequenced A,B,C,D - there's no mention of 'a two record set' like you find on later copies. The vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue white-text cover. Now, please be aware the 'blue-text' copies which are sought after for rarity are not the 1st issue. They were a short lived attempt at redesigning the cover after Noel & Mitch complained to management about the disproportionately small photos! The re-design was attempted, botched, and they quickly switched back to the original 1st design - "two small photos and white text".
Vinyl (Ex/Ex) In great shape and it's not often you pick up an EL that actually plays superb. The Lp has seen a light to moderate level of use - but you wouldn't think it having listened to it. Do expect a few marks in the odd spot per side - nothing heavy or troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback with one slight deviation. Yes, you read that correctly "excellent across four sides with little to complain at". Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Interference is both minor and infrequent. Just expect a few light crackles in the occasional isolated spot, and a few light ticks midway through side C during the 'base noodling' - and that's your lot. This is certainly one of the best copies I've auditioned. Not perfect - but in reality very impressive and way above the typical level that usually surfaces. Please note a couple of the labels still show the remnants of some pink lettering I have partly managed to remove.
Cover (Ex) In great shape - wow - these original covers really are a thing of beauty. The lustre from the heavy lamination looks great. Hardly any lamination lift at all - all I can make out is two tiny thumbnail creases, a couple of light indentations, and a couple of tiny pin pricks. The interior is in remarkable - pretty much faultless. Edge wear is very light for this title. The spine is not perfect, but way way better than usual condition you usually see. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
