An original mono 1st press of 'Greatest' on the UK Parlophone label. Matrix 1/1. Stampers 1A/1A - placing this copy within the first 3,000 copies to have rolled off the press. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original mono Garrod & Lofthouse mono cover with flipbacks. Also included is the original Emi advertising inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) Wow, an absolute beaut which has seen only the lightest use. I struggled to make out a single mark either side. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Without a shadow of doubt the best rendition I've witnessed of GREATEST. The audio has tremendous transparency allowing you to hear deep into the mix. Is the mono mix helping? Almost certainly...but those mega early stampers mean this copy is very very close to the master copy. Interference is absolutely non-existent. I'll do my usual catch-all you may pick out a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. But you can forget ever finding a better copy than this..because this copy is FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Blimey..pretty much an archive copy. Beautifully shiny front cover without a crease. The rear is equally good and has totally avoided the ageing process - nothing! All the flipbacks are perfectly preserved and totally intact. Edge wear is pretty much non-existent and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact and the cover has retained perfect rigidity. FINAL UPGRADE!
Inner (Ex+) No ageing. No marks. No splits...perfect!
