A wonderful compilation of early Mothers Of Invention material, affectionately described as 'the highlights of their golden era are preserved here in black plastic, for you, and for posterity' - a touching sentiment, unique gatefold picture sleeve featuring the classic 'Zappa on the Crappa' image. The vinyl is in fantastic condition!

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS NEAR MINT. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

 

(b)            The records are pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

 

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

 

 

·       COVER

 

THE COVER IS ABOUT VERY GOOD+(+)

 

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

 

-        The spine has a 5-inch piece of masking (beige) tape; from what we can determine, the tape serves to conceal the gnawed (chewed out) piece of spine about 3 inch in length, where a small piece of cover is missing (the small crack is visible on the inside gatefold)

 

-         Cover has some ring wear;  On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 4   (front side) and 5 (back side). .

 

-         Back cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record),  probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.

 

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging   (nothing significant).

 

-         Cover has a few wrinkles along the seams

 

-         Cover has a visible wrinkle (crease) in the cardboard base on the back panel

 

-         The cover has a few tiny scratch marks on both sides

 

-         A small water stain noted in one corner (faintly visible on both sides, but slightly more on the back panel) (less than 1 square inch in size)

 

-         The cover has a few yellowish dust speckles scattered here and there (these tiny spots are not overly obtrusive or distracting)

 

-         Cover has all four corners slightly worn / dinged / bent (just a beginning of the split seam in one of the corners)

 

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

 

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No warping

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
