Up for auction is a nice original copy of the Eddie Daniels album "First Prize!" originally released in the U.S. on Prestige Records (PR 7506) in 1967.
-Guaranteed original First Pressing
-Rare mono version
-Correct blue & silver "trident" label
-RVG stamped in run-out matrix -Original laminated paste-down cover -No UPC/bar code on cover -Still in opened factory shrink wrap -Features Roland Hanna on piano
Note: This is one of the most under-rated and under-valued jazz records of the 1960s. Classic hard bop style, a forgotten gem of a jazz record. Had this record come out 10 years earlier, it would be far more valued and sought after.
Condition: Still in opened factory shrink wrap, the cover has been well preserved with no significant signs of age or wear. No ring wear--any rubbing in the photo is to the factory shrink wrap, not the cover itself. Seams are nice, just a hint of rub to corners near opening. Back is white, unmarked. Grade: Near Mint (NM).
The vinyl is also in very nice condition, still retains its original shine and luster. Both sides look generally very clean almost Near Mint, but Side Two Track Two has one very light superficial scuff that does not affect the quality of the playback. Labels are clean.
I have Play-Tested this record, and the sound quality, when played in recommended MONO mode, is very nice and clear. I doubt this record has been played more than a couple times. Grade: Side One: Excellent (EX); Side Two: Very Good Plus (VG+).
