Original 1st US pressing factory sealed copy of The Doors’ 6th studio album released in April, 1971 that became the band’s last album recorded with Jim Morrison. This outstanding album is included into “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” according to the Rolling Stone magazine. We can’t state for sure or guarantee that this copy is a promotional copy but it has an original hype sticker affixed to the cover itself underneath the shrink wrap reading “Contains the Hit Single Love Her Madly EKS-75011”. I would like to share our observations related to this sticker. On the promotional copies of this issue the hype sticker is affixed to the cover itself, like on this copy, whereas on the commercial release copies it’s located on the shrink wrap. There is one more circumstance. The color of lettering on this copy’s sticker is quite pale and characteristic to the promotional copies while the sticker’s lettering on commercial release pressings is saturated yellow. We aren’t able to explain this circumstance just like we aren’t able to state for sure that this copy is a white label promo. The label design of this issue is considered to be the 8th in the Elektra lineup that was used from 1970 to 1979 and is commonly referred to as the “butterfly” label. The cover of this copy has the 1st print design and contains the embossed “Doors” band name, rounded corners and die-cut window opening with a photo of the band printed black half-tone on clear acetate. The 1st print custom inner sleeve, which also has the radius corners, contains the blank front side and artwork on the back providing the yellow background color to the cover window photo when inserted. Stunning factory sealed copy in Mint condition.
