Beatles. Please Please Me Gold Mono 1st 1N/1N. ZT Tax Code. Dick James. Ex+/Ex+.

The sleeve is still fully laminated (photo 1), with no peeling anywhere but some light creasing lines around the edges. The flipback is firmly fixed to the rear (photo 3), with no indication of loosening. There are 2 very light stains to the top of the flipback but nothing strenuous and, again, very light crease marks to the edge laminate. No rips are evident but there is truly miniscule wear to each corner. The spine is flat and still demonstrates very clear wording (photo 4). The sleeve bares no writing or indents either side, whilst the entire back of the sleeve is extremely clean, showing very little ageing or discolouration (photo 3).

The front of the sleeve includes the Angus Mcbean photo credit, where the 'A' to Angus is directly at the end and below the 'S' in 'songs' (photo 2) and the rear has the 'Printed and made by Ernest J Day & Co. Ltd. London PMC 1202 PCS 3042' wording, to the bottom right.

The record plays beautifully but there are some light clicks here and there, although absolutely no jumps, skips or distortion. There are a couple of hair lines running on side 1 but I can't detect any on side 2, apart from on the deadwax. Again, these are light. Overall, the vinyl is very clean, shiny and has no warping. The sound quality is superb.

Matrix numbers are:

XEX 421-1N (Side 1).
XEX 422-1N (Side 2). (Photos 8 & 9).

The lables are lovely and clear. Neither seem to show any sign of fading, with the bold gold of the writing still contrasting boldly with the black backgrounds. There are the 4 Dick James publishing credits on the 1st side and the 2 similarly credited on side 2, synonymous with the 1st pressing. The ZT tax code (again, only evident on true 1st pressings) is embossed on the label indent of side 1 (photo 6), with each letter either side of the spindle hole. The hole itself is clean and nicely rounded on both sides.

The record is housed in it's original Emitex poly lined inner sleeve, which is near perfect.
