YEAR: 1960

FORMAT: 12" BLACK VINYL

LABEL/CATALOG#:  - Blue Note ‎– BLP 1583

CONDITION (VINYL/COVER):   VG+ - EX / VG+ - EX ~ (SEE PHOTOS)

COMMENTS: VERY RARE & HARD TO FIND EARLY/FIRST MONO PRESSING OF CURTIS FULLER'S VOLUME 3 ON BLUE NOTE RECORDS. VINYL COMES IN AN ORIGINAL BLUE NOTE INNER SLEEVE & WOULD BE A VERY TOUGH COPY TO UPGRADE, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE SCARCITY OF IT! (SEE PHOTOS)

Vinyl: Has a couple very light non-feelable hairlines/brushmarks on each side (see photos), early 1959/1961 era transitional labels; 47 W. 63rd NYC with an (R) on Side 1 & 47 W. 63rd NYC with no (R) on Side 2, “RVG” stamped on both sides, vinyl has beaded rim with no deep groove on either side. Overall, this copy is still in exceptional shape, especially for its age!

PLAYGRADED ON AN ORBITS CUSTOM TURNTABLE WITH ORTOFON OM 5E STYLUS.

Listening/Sound Quality: Overall this is a really great listen with no overpowering noticeable noise, distortion or serious defects to music quality. However, there are 1 or 2 small hairline/brush marks at the beginning of the Side 2/Track 1 “Carvon” that create a few light pops/ticks in the beginning of the song. These probably wouldn’t be as noticeable except for the nature of the intro to the song, which involves a very quiet/muted Fuller interchanging with George Tucker’s bass which he is playing beautifully with a bow.

Cover: Has a still shiny laminate cover with blank spine, 47 W. 63rd New York 23 address with no INC. on back, there are no seam splits or edge wear to speak of, some light wear to the corners by opening (mostly bottom corner), there is a very faint crease-line or wrinkle by upper right corner on front not really noticeable straight on, though you can slightly make it out in the “spine” photo, some light rubbing in spots as seen. Overall, really in very beautiful shape.
