The Beatles - ‘The Beatals Wildcat!’ CD

'The Beatals Wildcat!' is one of the very earliest known recording sessions of The Beatles. It took place in April/May 1960 in the front room of Paul McCartney’s childhood home - 20 Forthlin Road, Liverpool, England. The recording takes place prior to the name ‘THE BEATLES’ being used. Back in early 1960 the boys went under the name ‘THE BEATALS’, hence the name of this CD. This recording also pre dates what we all know as the final lineup of The Beatles - John, Paul, George and Ringo. It features all the full time members of the band as of April/May 1960 - John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Stuart Sutcliffe (no permanent drummer).

The CD features some very early versions of what would become famous Lennon/McCartney compositions such as ‘Hello Little Girl’ and ‘I’ll Follow The Sun’. Of most interest (at least to me) is a whole host of Lennon/McCartney compositions and some Lennon/McCartney/Harrison/Sutcliffe compositions which fail to surface ever again by The Beatles. Many of these tracks are really very strong and show just how accomplished songwriters Lennon/McCartney were from an early age.

Please note that this was recorded back in 1960 on Paul’s home tape recorder in his front living room (an amateur home recording). It is by no means poor quality but is far from a polished studio album. The recording is of great historical importance for all Beatles fans and is in fact one of my all time favourites (I have a large collection)!

The package included here is certainly a fine bootleg. As the session was unreleased it is designed to look like a unique Emidisc acetate pressing. No Anthology tracks are featured here.
