True Blue (’86) is the 3rd studio album by American singer Madonna who co-wrote & co-produced it. It deals with her visions of love, work, dreams & disappointments. Inspired by then husband Sean Penn, she dedicated it to him. It incorporates music styles to engage an older audience who had been skeptical of her music & features acoustic guitars, drums, synthesizers & Cuban musical instruments. Song topics range from love, freedom & in the case of Papa Don't Preach, social issues like teenage pregnancy. It received acclaim, with critics complimenting the album as the archetype of the late '80s to early '90s pop albums & praised how Madonna's voice sounded stronger, commending her skills as a singer/songwriter & entertainer. An immediate global success, it reached #1 in a then record-breaking 28 countries. It spent 34 consecutive weeks at the top of the European Top 100 Albums chart, longer than any other album in history. It became the world's top-selling album of '86, best-selling album of the '80s by a female artist & 1 of the best-selling albums of all time. All 5 singles released reached the top 5 on the USA Billboard Hot 100 with Live to Tell, Papa Don't Preach, & Open Your Heart hitting #1.
