Offered for sale is a 12" vinyl LP of 'Please Please Me', the debut album by The Beatles. The catalogue number is PMC 1202. This is the 4th press of the mono version, which was on sale from the summer of 1963 to early 1964 - so this really is an early version. It comes complete with its original inner sleeve.

It is the 4th press as it has the 'Record first published 1963' text on both labels and no 'Sold in the UK' text. The matrix numbers are XEX 421-1N and XEX 422-1N. The sleeve is the original one from this time, with the "Photo: Angus McBean" credit under the final 's' of 'songs' on the front cover. The sleeve itself is credited to Ernest J Day & Co.

Please note this is being sold as a collection filler.

The vinyl itself is ok and plays through with no skips or jumps. But it has a lot of surface scuffs and a lot of surface scratches - I have tried to show the worst of these in the pictures. There are a lot of spindle marks to both labels, and a bit of a scratch to the label on Side 1 - again please see the pictures for a clear view of this. The labels do not have any handwriting or stickers anywhere though.

The picture sleeve is in poor condition. It has been reinforced with sellotape down the opening edge of the front cover, and along 3 edges of the rear cover. There is also a significant split along the bottom edge on the rear cover, though the record is not exposed when it sits in the sleeve - this is all in the pictures. There is also some handwriting on the top of the rear cover.

The record comes with its original 'Use Emitex' inner sleeve. This is all in one piece but is in poor condition overall too. It has been reinforced with sellotape but has still split from the centre towards the bottom corner - again please see the pictures. It also has 'Please Please Me' written in pen on the top edge of one side.

Overall this is a fair to good record in a poor sleeve. If you are after a playable early example of this classic record then this one might be for you - but please note it is being sold as a collection filler owing to its overall condition.

Please feel free to ask any questions, and please take a look at my other items - including some other vinyl. Where possible, I’m happy to combine postage for multiple purchases.
