Sam ellis - untitled.
Very rare unreleased white label test press album from UK folk singer 'sam ellis'. Private press from 1971.
Sam ellis was a folk singer/song writer from hull who used to play at the famous folk club 'the processed pea' in Hull.
Sam must have privately pressed up a few of these to sell at his performances at the processed pea.
I got this album from a lady who was a student at Hull university back in 1971. She met sam one night and was given the LP. He has signed the front of the plain sleeve to her.
The album itself is amazing. Singer songwriter guitar and percussion. Mainly own compositions with a few covers of folk classics by john Martyn & James Taylor. Sam really has a great voice and the guitar and percussion on this sounds unlike an amateur production. The own compositions are excellent and should have gone further towards a recording contract. This is traditional folk....but very progressive guitar folk about darker subjects...not unlike nick drake or Neil young. This really should get a release if anyone is able to locate sam ellis.
This looks hardly played!
