`THIS IS NOT NEAR MINT if you want mint or near mint please see other listings this is quality original 50 year old owned vinyl, really nice fat late 60s press way above average weight.

The ever popular Jimi Hendrix smash hits original from 1968 first Mono A1 B1 wow! pressing on UK Track Records black label , Purple Haze, Hey Joe, Stone Free, Foxy Lady, The Wind cries Mary, all are here ..... the earliest possible matrixes on this one.

This is now the best and only reliable place to get the original "Mono Mixes" on the Iconic "Black Track" label of these 6 great tunes!

1)"The of Wind cry's Mary"
2)"Can you see me"
3) " 51 st Annivesary"
4) "Stars that play with laughing Sams dice"
5)"Hey Joe"

6 " Burning of the midnight lamp" is previewed here 5 months before the `stereo` version appeared on Electric Ladyland `cool mix`

7) "Highway Chile"8" Stone Free"

enough reason on its own... and way better quality than the US presses in our view.....set to rise in value..

This was rolled out fast in 1968 following the release of "Are you Experienced" and "Axis Bold as Love" the singles "Wind Cries Mary" " Hey Joe" and "Purple Haze" were not included in the UK versions of the Debut "Are You Experienced" Album so responding to requests Chas Chandler gave Jimis fans what they wanted...

"Smash Hits" 1968 MONO is a great one to partner "Are You Experienced" and you get the vibe of 67/68 in swinging London where these were recorded, Jimi was playing most nights and recording in London whenever he could., this is the legacy... this is exactly how Jimi wanted it to sound.

If you want a vinyl collectable that you can play and enjoy this is for you....

The great running order chose by Jimi and Chaz Chandler for the UK market means never a dull moment, great cover nuff said...

photos of Jimis Mayfair London residence are not included its where a lot of these songs were written in bed though according to Jimi, also the Royal Mail postbox outside Jimis home is where he posted his postcards home to his Dad Al about his success in London 66 and 67.....
The record A1 B1 Mono

We would grade this as Nr Excellent condition has some light static in quieter sections nothing to disrupt enjoyment of the music , some light surface scuffs and feelable lines and hairlines, (this is a 50 year old!)

we never use mint on a record of this age. sound amazing in glorious MONO the audio plays through well with no jumps or skips it has some light static in the intros, nothing to disrupt play.

Please dont buy this if you are looking for a "mint perfect" see other listings, this is a 50 year old survivor.

The first two albums were recorded 67/68 for MONO and the engineers knew what they were doing, later in 68 came the stereo versions which have some clever sound affects and panning but our favourite is the MONO Jimi had his ear in here well and truly and knew what he wanted.

This has not been cleaned a professional clean could help, this is individual so we don't do it! There is some static in quieter places....

This is on A1 B1 matrixes placing it near the start closest to the masters. This is the first press, we have not seen earlier versions and the audio on this one is outstanding and really punchy on our Rega 3 no skips or jumps and only some light static in some places.

The cover

Near EX  with some laminate creases `see photos` and some light ring wear from its 50 years (see photos)it a good solid s[ine no rips or tears.
