This auction is for an original, 1st press copy of the Beatles' American LP 'A Hard day's Night' on the United Artists label.

When United Artists were approached about producing a Beatle movie, it is believed they agreed purely so that they could get ahold of the publishing rights to the soundtrack and, thinking that the movie wouldn't do so well, filmed it as cheaply as possible (hence why it's in black and white and not colour, which was the more common format). Capitol also released 'Something New' at the same time of this UA record, which contained a number of HDN tracks, meaning that two albums that contained the same songs were in the charts at the same time on two different labels!

This is a very respectible copy of this rare, hard to find LP!

The American covers were pretty fragile and this one is showing light, general signs of wear and tear, but nothing destructive or detrimental. The front cover has a lovely, rich red colour to it with some light dirt buildup and some grey spots in the lighter areas. There's a little wear around the edges and the corners have rounded off. Top and bottom seams are holding with a little wear - moreso on the bottom - and each has a thin piece of tape which looks like it was stuck there to anticipate a future split. it's done its job but has left cellotape residue on the front and back. The spine has paper wear which has torn a little, but the spin itself is still holding with no splitting. The spinetext is legible but has wear over it. The back cover has yellowed a little with some light dirt buildup - most notably at the top and sides, and the prementioned tape residue marks are at the top and bottom. There's an original rip seal price sticker on the mouth that shows $2.99. Overall, an average looking sleeve that's holding up nicely but is showing its age.   Inner Sleeve: G+
The original UA inner sleeve is clean with minimal creases and with a little yellowing. Unfortunately the bottom has split quite wide, along with one of the sides, which brings the condition down.   Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : EX

The playing surface has a lovely, crisp shine to itand only a few very little, faint little scuffs. Looks like it could do with a professional clean.

The labels are clean, crisp and clear with bright text. There's a few, light, little spidery spindlemarks and a touch of whitening around eacher centrehole.
