COMPOSERS WORKSHOP ENSEMBLE – self-titled (1972) Strata-East-1972-3 – EX/EX (cover/vinyl)

Classic modal jazz session on the great Strata-East Records label. This is Bross Townsend on piano, Herb Bushler on bass and Warren Smith on drums joined by a great horn section that includes Johnny Coles and Jimmy Owens. An early release on the label, and it has “Sub Structure,” “Lament (What Does It All Mean?),” “Blues for E.L.C.,” “Blues By Monk,” “Julius,” and “Introduction to the Blues.” I love this one.

This is a beautiful copy. The cover is tight and has almost no wear. Most would grade it M-. Maybe I should! The vinyl is super clean and glossy with only insignificant sleeve scuffs that are superficial and don’t affect play. I grade this conservatively: EX/EX (cover/vinyl).

This is an original pressing. I do not sell modern reissues
