Specifics about this album:
This is the original 12” 33 rpm mono version of this album that was released in 1956, RCA Victor LPM-1351.  The cover photo shows singers (from left to right) Bill Shaw (1st tenor), James Blackwood (2nd tenor or “lead”), Cecil Blackwood (baritone), and J.D. Sumner (bass).  All songs on this album were recorded prior to Cecil Blackwood and J.D. Sumner joining the group.  The songs on this album were recorded in the early 1950’s when the group was comprised of Dan Huskey (1st tenor; he sang on some of these songs), Bill Shaw (1st tenor; Bill replaced Dan Huskey in 1952 and sang on the remainder of these songs); James Blackwood (2nd tenor or “lead”), R.W. Blackwood (baritone; Cecil’s brother), and Bill Lyles (bass).  Not pictured is pianist Jackie Marshall who served as the group’s pianist throughout this entire period.
This particular copy of this album is in “excellent” condition, especially considering it is now 62 years old:
The album cover has no rips, tears, holes, slot cuts, seam splits, or writing.  The color on the album cover is in excellent condition - again, especially considering its age.
It appears that greasy fingers may have touched the side 1 label at some point.  This is not a major issue, but it is noticeable upon close inspection (see pic # 5).  Otherwise, the side 1 label is very clean.  The side 2 label is in - at the very least - near mint condition.  Also noticeable on both sides is the lack of wear around the spindle hole.  This lack of wear is an indication that this album has not been played often.
In regards to the vinyl, I have listened to the entire album.  The constant crackle of surface noise is very minimal.  In some places the surface noise is nearly nonexistent.  In other places surface noise exists, but is minimal.  There are a few pops on this album, but they are relatively few and they are relatively mild as pops from surface scatches go.  Again, for a 62-year-old vinyl record, this album sounds excellent!
Factoring in the age of this album, I would give a grade of A- to the cover, and the vinyl. I would give a grade of B+ to the labels ONLY because of the greasy spots on the side 1 label.  I may be guilty of being a bit too critical on this point. Otherwise, the labels are very near mint condition.
The vinyl album will be inside a standard white paper sleeve.  The album cover will come inside a clear plastic poly sleeve.
These old Blackwood Brothers albums are long out of print and the supply of overall high quality albums is dwindling.  Some sellers list an album such as this at a considerably higher price and the quality may not be as good as this one.  I personally think that prices on these albums should top out at about $25.00 apiece, unless they were to be autographed by the group members (which this album is not).  Any price above $25.00 for a non-autographed vintage gospel album is unreasonable in my humble opinion.  So, I’m asking the high price of $20.00 plus S&H for this vintage high quality product.  This is the first of several vintage southern gospel albums that I intend to list on eBay and this price represents the high end of my quality/pricing pattern.  I will have other albums (including another copy of this same album) that will be of lesser condition, and the prices will be lowered accordingly.  I will have some albums in poorer condition that I will simply want to get rid of without losing money on shipping materials, postage, and eBay fees.
