Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison is a live album by Johnny Cash, released on Columbia Records in May 1968. After his 1955 song "Folsom Prison Blues", Cash had been interested in recording a performance at a prison. Cash had recently controlled his drug abuse problems, and was looking to turn his career around after several years of limited commercial success. Cash's first prison performance was at Huntsville State Prison in 1957. Satisfied by the favorable reception, he performed at several other prisons in the years leading up to the Folsom performance in 1968.  Backed by June Carter, Carl Perkins and the Tennessee Three, Cash performed two shows at Folsom State Prison in California on January 13, 1968. The album consists of fifteen tracks from the first show and two tracks from the second.

GRADING AND DESCRIPTION BELOW!

Please read entire item description below before bidding impulsively, as there may be a specific mention of detail or wear on the vinyl or cover that you may not have had the time to read about, yet, I have described.  I test my records by playing them completely through unless NM or Sealed (in order to protect their quality) before listing. I do not get dissuaded by surface scratches on albums, that does not mean the Album skips so please be comfortable if you receive one from me with them - as the records are previously owned.

If you are unhappy, I offer a return period. I also encourage you to contact me via email if you find the record is not as I represented. The grading itself is sometimes subjective though I have tried hard to use some type of standard.  The detailed grading I use is Goldmine Standard or eBay Standard.

Description:  This album is in fabulous condition!  To listen to the live recording and realize it is the music of a legend is overwhelming.  The vinyl has  a few cosmetic markings.  The cover is in open shrink, inner sleeve is original.  I would not want to pass this one by!  I mean where else can you find "Dirty Old Egg-Sucking Dog"?

Grading:  A Very Good Plus (VG+) record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Defects should be more of a cosmetic nature, not affecting the actual playback as a whole. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Picture sleeves and inner sleeves will have some slight wear, slightly turned-up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear, and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation, or cut corner.
