Wells and uses a progressive rock format with string orchestra, narration and leitmotifs which propell the story forward by rhyming and melodic lyrics which express the feelings of the characters. The 2-LP set remains a bestseller having sold millions of records worldwide and is the 38th best selling album of all time in the UK with sales exceeding 2.5 million as of 2009. It has spawned many versions of the album, video games, DVDs and live tours.
