This is an incredible find b/c they still play! Offered for sale are 5 Voice-O-Graph 78 RPM discs.
I was able to make out the following from playing them then filtering digitally to uncover the voices from the past:
Disc 1
An adult and child who talk about how they saw a helicopter, tilt-a-whirl, and they're about to get on a Greyhound (maybe a carnival?)
Disc 2
A small child singing "I hear singing and there's no one there" from I Wonder Why
Disc 3
Father and son(?) on a Daytona Beach trip but live in Monroe (Ga.?)
Disc 4
Male singer performing "Shotgun Boogie" with noises of a carnival in the background
Disc 5
Apparently the same male continuing with "Shotgun Boogie"
If you're like me, these one of a kind snip-its of history are like a little time machine that only a very few of us can experience. Voice-O-Graph recording booths would appear at USO events so soldiers serving in WW2 could mail their messages home to loved ones, then later after the war at carnivals for creating souvenirs of someone's vacation or intimate date... Often attracting wanna-be pop stars proving to the world they could entertain... Fabulous stuff if you an still play 78's and have good enough hearing to dig for these audible treasures within.
PayPal only please.
Happy bidding!
