For sale is a copy of The Beatles penultimate studio album, Abbey Road.
This is an original Stereo 1st Pressing produced in 1969 with the sought after dark green apple labels.
In addition, this copy features the rare, misprinted label on side 2 in which ‘The End Her Majesty’ is printed as just ‘The End’.
Please see below for further details.
Many vinyl records are mis-sold on eBay. There are several details which identify this copy as a true 1st pressing. They are:
· Fully laminated Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve.
· Variation B sleeve in which the apple is aligned with the text on the rear.
· Dark green Apple logo on the label of Side 1.
· ‘An E.M.I. Recording’ printed in parenthesis over two lines.
· The title of Track 10 Side 2 misprinted as ‘The End’.
· ‘PCS 7088’ catalogue number.
· Matrix numbers YEX 749-2 (side 1) and YEX 750-1 (side 2).
I try to take pictures which provide a fair representation of the condition of a record and the sleeve. If interested, please read below for a detailed discussion including an audio description.
I use the Goldmine standard as a reference for grading.
Vinyl: Very Good +
The record is in great visual condition and has fantastic playback.
The vinyl surface retains the original gloss sheen.
The labels are bright and clean and have very little spindle wear.
Both sides have hairline marks that you can pick up in bright light but nothing that effects playback.
The audio on both sides is fantastic. Clear vocals, punchy bass and crisp details. The crickets can clearly be heard on ‘Sun King’.
There is very little dust crackle and no skips, jumps or pops.
A really enjoyable record to listen to.
Sleeve: Excellent
The sleeve looks great.
Both the front and rear are very clean and retain the original bright colours.
The corners are sharp, and the spine is well defined.
There are no rips, tears or writing present anywhere on the sleeve.
Inner Sleeve: Excellent
The inner sleeve is the original plain white ‘patent pending’ EMI inner sleeve.
It is very white without any staining or discolouration.
There is no writing or creasing.
Also included in the sale is an audiophile quality inner sleeve which provides the best possible protection for the record.
This is a fantastic copy of one of the Beatles greatest albums (top 1 in my opinion!). A rare early pressing in great condition; a perfect addition to any collection!
The outer sleeve, vinyl, and inner sleeve are all housed separately within a premium quality polythene outer sleeve.
The record will be sent within a padded vinyl record mailer.
