For sale is a copy of the Beatles Final Studio Album, Let It Be.
This is an original UK 1st Pressing produced in 1970
The recent ‘Get Back’ television documentary was produced from video recordings of the studio sessions of this album.
The Beatles last studio album was initially released in the UK on May 8th 1970 and available as a box set until November of the same year. It cost £1 more than a normal album.
Included in the box set was a 164 page, 'behind the scenes' book, titled "Get Back", featuring exclusive images and dialogue from the studio sessions.
To top it off, the album contains some of The Beatles' most famous songs: "Let It Be", "Across The Universe", and "I, Me, Mine".
Please see below for further details.
Many vinyl records are mis-sold on eBay. There are several details which identify this copy as a true 1st pressing. They are:
Garrod & Lofthouse laminated sleeve with a red apple logo on the rear. 164 page book with the title, "Get Back", printed on the spine. Internal inner tray of the box set made from non-laminated cardboard. Dark Green Apple labels with MfD. in U.K. printed on both sides. The song titles on Side 1 label close to the edge of the label (much narrower on later copies). Matrix numbers YEX 773-2U (side 1) and YEX 774-2U (side 2).
I try to take pictures which provide a fair representation of the condition of a record and the sleeve. If interested, please read below for a detailed discussion including an audio description.
I use the Goldmine standard as a reference for grading.
Vinyl: Very Good +
The vinyl is in great visual condition with superb playback.
The vinyl surface retains the original gloss sheen.
The labels are clean and bright and have minimal spindle wear.
There are hairline marks to both sides but none that can be felt or that effect playback.
The audio on both sides is accurately graded as excellent; clear vocals, punchy bass, and crisp details.
There is very little dust crackle and no skips or jumps.
Sleeve: Very Good
The sleeve is in great condition.
The front is very clean and back are very clean.
Both sides have a couple of scuffs and small areas where the laminate has lifted.
There is are two small rips to the opening edge (1 front, 1 back) that sympathetically repaired at some stage.
The corners, spine and edges show subtle signs of storage wear.
Inner Sleeve: Excellent
The white 'patent pending' inner sleeve is almost perfect.
There is no discolouration or staining.
Also included is an audiophile quality anti-static inner sleeve that the record is kept within.
Box and Tray: Very Good
Whilst it looks great, the box is notoriously difficult to use and often gets ripped by over-eager music enthusiasts trying to get the album out.
This copy has fortunately managed to survive in one piece.
The corners of the outer box show signs of storage wear.
Otherwise there no obvious signs of wear to the outer box, the colours are bright and it still retains a mirror-like gloss.
The two tabs on the outer tray are heavily creased but in tact.
The inner tray has been lost.
Book: Excellent
The book is absolutely fantastic. I would be willing to purchase it as a stand alone item as the insight into the dynamic of the Beatles' studio sessions.
This copy is in great shape.
The corners and spine are sharp and the front and rear covers bright.
If you have enjoyed the Get Back documentary, you will love this Box Set. It is fantastic. Not only that, you are buying a piece of music and cultural history that is a must have for any serious Beatles collector.
The outer sleeve, vinyl, and inner sleeve are all housed separately within a premium quality polythene outer sleeve.
The record will be sent within a padded vinyl record mailer.
