You are bidding for a CLASSIC UK 50'S ROCK N' ROLL / SKIFFLE 78 RPM single by THE LONNIE DONEGAN SKIFFLE GROUP called ROCK ISLAND LINE backed with JOHN HENRY issued on the DECCA JAZZ record label in the UK in 1956, cat number F-J 10647(light blue label). The record is in excellent condition with excellent labels .The record has little wear with few slight surface scuffs and few surface scratches and plays with no jumps and clicks and a minimum of surface noise. CLASSIC UK SKIFFLE from LONNIE DONEGAN  with two great rocking tracks . LONNIE DONEGAN had a huge world wide hit with ROCK ISLAND LINE and started the SKIFFLE craze in the UK which introduced FOLK and BLUES to UK teenagers, DONEGAN was a huge influence kick starting the UK ROCK, BLUES and FOLK industry,. and responsible for thousands of British teenagers buying a guitar learning a few chords and forming groups. The BEATLES STONES, DIRE STRAITS, QUEEN, VAN MORRISON, BILLY FURY, CLIFF RICHARD , all started by taking their first fumbling steps in SKIFFLE groups, before turning to rock and roll, or the blues, or folk. SKIFFLE only lasted about a year though LONNIE DONEGAN had a lng series of hits right into the 60's and was selling out venues right up to his death a couple of years back, A WORLD WIDE HIT A little piece of recording history, and the record which started BRITISH rock and roll music and THE WHOLE BRITISH ROCK AND BLUES SCENE... RARE in decent condition, from my own collection.
