For auction is PHIL WOODS' "Rights Of Swing," on Candid 8016, MONO, DG, 1961. 1With Curtis Fuller, Benny Bailey, Tommy Flanagan, Sahib Sahib, others.
SOUND: VG+ or better
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Overall, the playback is great, with nice sharp sound. Thoroughly enjoyable! That said, there is a faint amount of surface noise on the record. A soft, random tic is heard here or there. A2, "Part II Ballad," which his a softer number, is the only cut on which it is noticeable. Even then, it's not a big deal... unless you need perfect sound, you'll be delighted with this playback!
VINYL: VG/VG+
Visually, the vinyl looks very clean and glossy. Close examination reveals two tiny marks on side A that can be felt, and which presumably cause a couple tics. (To reiterate, the playback had no big flaws...) Other than that, the vinyl looks really fine, without any other marks or scuffs of note. This is the original Mono press, with deep-grooved yellow/orange Candid labels, in nice condition.
JACKET: NM-
The textured front cover is awesome! The back cover is bright and clean, with a couple minor, routine age spots. The edges and spine are excellent, with just a touch of wear. the corners each have a touch or minor bumping/wear. Overall, it is a beautiful jacket.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
An outstanding record that plays great. No reserve, bidding starts at $20.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
