PINK FLOYD – A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS - MONO 1968. 1st pressing

This is a 1968 1st UK MONO vinyl pressing of Pink Floyd's second LP.

It is on the black & blue Columbia label: SX 6258.

Matrix numbers: XAX 3633 -1 / XAX 3634 -1

The disk is housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd’ printed mono cover.

Record sound:

Side 1: EX+ to M- deep full sound. No clicks when test played.

Side 2: EX+ to M- deep full sound. No clicks when test played.

Record visual:

EX++ to M-

No scratches, just very fine hairlines (from removing record from inner sleeve) when you look at the record up to a very strong light.

Both playing surfaces are extremely clean and retain their gloss shine, with no dull areas or 'groove-whitening' caused by overplay on poor equipment. Both sides of the record lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing. It does not skip or stick anywhere.

Labels: M- / M

Blue/Black Columbia labels with "...sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions, see price lists". Magdalene Music credits only, and on B1 Gilmour is printed as ‘Gilmore’.

A really clean and unworn pair of labels with just one or two barely visible spindle marks around the centre holes. No writing, marks or blemishes.

Cover: EX+

A superb example which retains a clean-gloss front laminate, but no heavy creasing or any other significant signs of wear. The rear panel is free from any blemishes other than the previous owner’s name and phone number in light biro (and small letters) on dark part of design (see photo) so is only noticeable at all when viewed up to the light. All flipbacks are undamaged and fully intact. The spine is clean with full lamination and wording.

Inner sleeve: EX/EX+

Housed in original EMI advertising sleeve for this release, showing The Beatles’ Revolver, The Yardbirds’ ‘Roger the Engineer’, etc. Clean and flat with a few very light storage wrinkles - no tears or rips. ‘Pink Floyd 2’ written in biro in small letters at top right corner of one side of the sleeve (see photo).

This is a really fantastic record. In my forty years of record collecting, I've never seen or heard a 1st pressing of this album ANYWHERE near as good as this.
