Recorded in 1970 with a host of young blues and rock musicians, Blue Memphis isn't in the same league as Memphis Slim's early recordings for Chess or United, but it does hold up better than similar dates released by fellow blues artists in that era (e.g., ' Fathers and Sons or 's ).
