ZAMBIA KILLER 70S SOUL JAZZ UNKNOWN Charles Muyamwa A Zambian Guitar LP Charles Muyamwa – A Zambian Guitar  Conga (2) – CCM 2
Wow! It’s always cool to find an album that has been forgotten by time, ungoogleable and not available in any format, especially from a country like Zambia which had a relatively small output of vinyl records in the 1970s. While Zamrock has been well explored in recent years, there was more going on in popular music at the time. One of the pioneers of the era is the late Charles Muyamwa whose guitar playing apparently inspired a generation. This is what appears to be his only LP, a unique sounding effort with a small band (bass, guitar, sax, trumpet, maracas and the vocals of Charles on some songs). Their music reminds quite a bit of Ernest Ranglin, taking in influences from Cuban / Congolese rumba, local Zambian styles, soul and jazz resulting in a laidback warm groove, quite different from the other records that came out in the region at the time.
The album was released by the tiny label db Applications, a store in Ndola (Copper belt region) which was responsible for a couple of other releases.
This copy despite its age and being a local release, is in superb condition with only surface (paper) scuffs and a few wrinkles on the sleeve. Get it now or wait forever for another copy...

THE SHIPPING RULES - PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING By buying on this item, you agree that I won't be responsible for items that are lost or damaged in the mail. In all my years selling via the web, I have never had a package lost and only once did an LP break but if you want to be 100% sure you may opt to have the record sent through registered mail at a little extra cost.
I recommend purchases for France and Italy to be sent via registered mail. Recently I haven't had any problems there but the postal service there has a bit of a reputation.
To prevent fraud, I will only ship to the address provided in your Paypal payment. If you want to ship to a different address, please change it in your Paypal settings before you pay.
Also, I reserve the right to cancel any purchases, for example from buyers who have given me problems before, including those who left me with a Paypal chargeback because their records took a while to arrive.
Any questions? Send me a message!
Browse my other items and look for a fat stack of grooves from Africa, Latin America and elsewhere... adding more in the coming days!
