We pack items very carefully (check feedback) and do not accept returns due to shipping damages. If you'd like postal insurance, let us know before finalizing payment, and we'll add it to your invoice. Insurance is not available for USPS First Class International, but is available for USPS Priority Mail International (for most countries). We use brand-new shipping boxes and packing materials for added shipping protection for records. There is a $2 handling fee for domestic shipping, to cover the cost of packaging. MULTIPLE-LISTINGS BUYERS: Our boxes fit a maximum of five records or two box sets (or similar combination), so we will invoice you once you reach that limit on our "Awaiting Payment" list, even if you still have bids out. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Please be aware we ship by USPS First Class International only, unless your order exceeds four pounds in weight, in which case we have no other option that to ship by USPS Priority Mail International.
RCA VICTOR ONE SIDED ETCHED TEST PRESSING 85126
FOR INTERNATIONAL RECORD COLLECTORS' CLUB #94 (A)
French bass POL PLANCON sings from the opera MIGNON (Thomas): "Berceuse" (Lullaby) with orchestra, recorded April 14, 1908.
Test pressing of individual matrixes are rare -- only one or two were pressed. Here's one on a beautifully etched translucent vinyl 12" record. The label is pretty bare, but held in the right light one can see the information indented on the label, the most important being that this was for IRCC 94, probably released circa 1950 (there is no source that lists release dates for IRCC records -- at least online).
The record has two straight scuffs (not scratches). There are a few quick, light ticks. Surface noise is low -- the music is loud and clear. Paper sleeve has no tears or splits.
NOTE: I DONT GRADE LABELS -- see pictures for that information. I use the eBay record grading system when listing 78's, which is mostly based on visual observation of the wax, shellac, or vinyl. KEEP IN MIND THAT ALMOST ALL OLD 78's HAVE SURFACE NOISE WHEN PLAYED ON MODERN EQUIPEMENT (except the extremely well-made records). It's only distracting surface noise, as well as ticks, pops, clicks or jumps, that may affect grading.
ALL THE RECORDS I LIST COME FROM ONE COLLECTION, THAT OF JAMES M. KENNEY OF NEW WINDSOR, MARYLAND. HE WAS ONE OF THE EAST COAST'S LARGEST AUDIO AND ELECTRONICS COLLECTORS.
