"CRASH LANDING" (Jimi Hendrix,1969)

Hey!
You don’t love me, you just want me,
So let's make it, baby, so I can leave.
You don’t need me,
You just want to bleed me.
So take out your dagger, and cut me deep, cut me free,
Cut me free.

Hey!

You don't love me, you just want to suffocate me,
So hand me your blankets and take your dirty sheets.
Dirty sheets, yeah,
Take your dirty sheets.
Well I must admit, that you can be a pretty good artist,
But I've never seen that smile, painted all across your face.
Baby, baby, on your your face,
Baby, on your face.
Oh, I do declare, you should be a rocket,
You get me spaced out, laid out, look at the sun fade out.
And you almost made me leave my faith outside.

Hey, look at you, all lovey-dovey, when you mess around with that needle.
Well, I... I wonder how would your loving be otherwise?
I wonder, just how would your loving be, otherwise?
Well, dig this.
I'm gonna spank your hands and I'm gonna throw away your stupid needle,
I'm gonna try to make love straight, for the very first and last time.
Slow it down sugar, unless you in a hurry to die.
You don't love me girl, you just want to hurt me.
So let's hurry and get this scene over, so we can marry up with that old sweet.
You don’t need me, you just wanna see me watch you, run after that suicide ball,
Bouncing across the freeway,
Bang! Bang! Shoot! Shoot!
As long as you’re yourself girl, I'll try not to give a hoot.
Bang! Bang! Shoot! Shoot!
Slow down, slow down, slow down. JIMI HENDRIX: "Crash Landing" LP, VERY FIRST UK PRESSING, ISSUED 23rd AUGUST, 1975 IN THE UK.
THE TRACKS WERE RECORDED BETWEEN 1968 AND 1970.

POLYDOR LABEL: SUPER 2310 398

MAITRIX: 2310398   A  // 1  420  05   /   2310 398   B // 3   420  05   1
The very first pressing, if a copy with 'B // 1' exists it will most likely be a re-issue, but I never say 'never' about there being
a first pressing out there with both side's ending with '1'.   I made the same comment  two years ago when selling an unplayed
first pressing,  that has been the pattern ever since buying "Crash Landing" in August,1975, I still have it in perfect condition.

ORIGINAL 1975 POLYDOR INNER SLEEVE, ALTHOUGH THEY WERE NOT CODE DATED, ANY UNPLAYED RECORD CAN
ONLY EVER BE IN THE ORIGINAL SLEEVE IT WAS FIRST PLACED INSIDE.  A RECORD IMPRESSION WITH A FEW RELATED
LIGHT CREASES ANDTHE USUAL GLUE SATURATION ALONG THE FIXING POSITIONS FOR THE POLY-LINING.
IN UNUSED, UNSPLIT NEAR MINT CONDITION.

1975 FIRST ISSUE 'MacNeill Press' COVER, THERE WERE MANY RE-PRESSINGS IN EVERY DECADE, ONLY THE VERY
FIRST COVERS HAD A NON SHEEN, MATT FINISH TOP SURFACE.  PLUS TOP RIGHT ON THE BACK, THE CATALOGUE
NUMBERS LISTING INCLUDES, Vinyl, Musicassetes & 8 Track Cartridges.
The light cream background to the front cover's superb artwork was always vulnerable to severe stains and discolouration, with
the matt surface, normally a great deal of rubbing ruins the impact.  Not here, there is not the normal loss of ink from handling and
rubbing, stains or colour fading.   A fantastic front cover, preserved by non use, that brings me to the other vulnerable parts of
1970's fairly thin cardbord with a matt finish.  The dark brown artwork is almost  perfect, just a tiny area near the centre far left
has rubbing from the record's internal position, I cannot stress enough how minimal for first issues.  The entire rest of the
printing is perfect, a 100% unrubbed track listing and full album credits, the white print is unaged and superbly clear to read.
The spine of nearly ever first issue has some form of rubbing to the three sections of the black printing, even with an unplayed
record inside, this cover has some spine rubbing purely from storage over the last 41 years.  As I constantly say, I can and do
locate ultimate condition records, but the covers depend on the materials they were made from and often original actual designs.
All those details can be seen in my pictures, I showed the top, middle and bottom sections of the spine in close up pictures, to
show the partial rubbing to the printed lettering.  It is unfair to criticise the above and any minor standing in storage traits,
when a very rare unplayed first pressed record is inside.  Most surving UK copies of "Crash Landing" in playable condition,
without the covers completely wrecked, originated in the 1980's decade Box Set, they did not have matt covers but a protective
sheen on the much thicker cardboard.   Easily identified by that and  the backs having a gold stamp stating they are from the
'Jimi Hendrix Box Set.'  The August, 1975 cover was  typical of the 1970's, a very thin matt cardboard cover that was instantly
prone to severe wear and with the usual heavy use, the covers are among the most worn of all time.  Especially with the light
cream colour background on the front to the stunning artwork, that became grubby and horribly discoloured.  The back wore
even worse still, the dark brown background was soon scuffed and ring wear moved in full time, in reality, this is one amazing
condition first issue "Crash Landing" cover , if with the same pattern just described  Please see my pictures for how stunning
this cover actually is, even the record impression is as  gentle as I have ever seen and the related tiny edge lines are of very
little consequence.   I personally thought  the second 1975 Jimi Hendrix album with unreleased material, was a direct reaction
to how poor the previous Hendrix covers were wearing from Polydor. "Midnight Lightning" was laminated on both sides, colour
becoming the first fully laminated Jimi  Hendrix Track / Polydor album since the 1968 "Electric Ladyland."   As it happens the
same fantastic collection this was in, also had "Midnight Lightning." This is only the third "Crash Landing" I have offered on
ebay in our 15 years trading here.  That is how rare a true Mint first pressing record in a more than presentable cover is,
I speak as both a Jimi Hendrix collector since 1966, and also as a professional record seller of long standing.  It took an colour
outstanding collection of unplayed records  to produce this beautiful cove rand record, even so, such unbelievable condition
for  the front artwork.... a work of art and here it is in all it's original August,1975 glory!
THE UNUSED COVER IS IN EXCELLENT +++ / NEAR CONDITION.

LIKE THE REST OF THE COLLECTION, THE RECORD WAS LEFT UNPLAYED AND PERFECTLY STORED AS TIME ALLOWS.
The substantial wad of vinyl shavings in and around the spindle hole, are the grading, a few delicate flakes would be removed if
this was placed on a spindle, so I will not be playing the record.
THE RECORD IS IN UNPLAYED, MINT CONDITION.

All Songs Written By Jimi Hendrix.
The tracks were recorded between 1968 & 1970, but left unfinshed, in 1974 Alan Douglas and Tony Bongiov compiled the unfinished
tracks and brought in musicians, Jeff Mironov, Bob Babbitt and Alan Schwartzberg to produce a studio quality, completed album.
Produced By Alan Douglas & Tony Bongiovi.
My opening comment is I must leave this unplayed due to the rarity, my second comment concerns the negativity thrown at this superb
album when it was first issued. Yes, Alan Douglas and Tony Bongiovi took it upon themselves to remove uninspired drumming & bass
from what were after alll demo's and out-takes, and replace them with the above musician's measured and inspired musicianship.
Jimi would have done the same and although fresh takes would have been performed, that could not be done after his tragic death.
I personally bought every album before and after Jimi's death and loved "Crash Landing" in 1975, I still do in 2016, If anything I
appreciate it more now than I did back then, how could any album with the title track alone, not be essential in a Jimi Hendrix LP
collection?  Surely some of the most personal lyrics Jimi ever wrote and sung, I often wonder if everyone knows the title track
was written about and to his girlfriend.  Come to that, who "Dolly Dagger" was? The full lyrics are above and I think I'm close to
the actual lyrics, allowing for Jimi's improvisational vocals, he was warning girlfriend Devon Wilson, to kick her herion habit,
she was a 60's groupie who included Mick Jagger among her conquest's.  I understand the anti-dubbing scenario, but in 1974 this
was an unreleased track and so was the rest of the album, in my humble opinion, Jimi Hendrix demo's and out-takes are superior
to any polished, fully produced recordings!  I want to hear them all and when John Lennon's raw, 1979 home record demo's were
given full overdubbing, nobody minded and it created two Number 1 singles, launching the whole "Beatles Anthology" series, it
only payed homage to a genius who's life was cruelly ended prematurely.  I was determined not to discuss such pettiness when the
genius of Jimi Hendrix was enhanced by the "Crash Landing" album being a fantastic listening experience, not diminished. I am not
discussing the few albums released when Jimi was alive, but the recording's he would most likely have returned to and re-recorded
himself.  When true great's die before they could fulfill their potential, be it Nick Drake, Sandy Denny, Jim Morrison, Otis Redding,
John Lennon, etc. etc. any material with substance is always very welcome.  Personal opinions on this subject are very 'personal'
to me, I will not discuss this in emails because it intrudes into one of the most influential musicians I have ever encountered, if
I thought this was detrimental to Jimi Hendrix's music, I would not sell the album in the first place!  I was thirteen when I first
heard Jimi Hendrix's debut single in 1966 and this album was released under ten years after buying the "Hey Joe" single and all
that followed.  "Crash Landing" was not a clever album title, but the title of a really stunning Jimi Hendrix track, the rest of the
album was seamlessly put together and it worked perfectly.  If Alan Douglas went too far in his enthusiasm for unreleased tracks
and even the three fragments he skilfully and superbly wove into one track, who really cares when "Crash Landing" became such a
worthy and really important part of the Jimi Hendrix catalogue.

Pressing info is the album sold reasonably well in the UK considering a tidal wave of negativity from the music press, No.35 was
not bad at all and the fantastic music on the album was thoroughly enjoyed in 1975.  "Crash Landing" remained in our charts for
three weeks and although not long enough to leave plentiful supplies behind today, the criticism was put into a true perspective.
Jimi's reputation was once again elevated by the mixture of psychedelia, heavy rock, blues and the magic unique to a musician who
always recorded just about everything attempted in a studio.  Demo's etc. were there to listen back to and often 'One Takes' were
enough to release or build amazing productions around, for a genius restricted to only less than 4 years of recording, we should
be eternally grateful for albums like "Crash Landing".... I certainly am!

    R & M RECORDS.

My lifetime's love of music and records began at a very young age, the arrival of the Beatles and the 1960's decade
in general had a very profound effect. It was only natural to bring all my first hand experience of collecting vinyl
into becoming a professional record seller.  Nearly thirty years ago we entered into the wonderful atmosphere
of record fairs with the highest possible standards set. When the Internet became the world's new market place for
vinyl, in 2001 it was time to join ebay. Those standards were rigidly adhered to as they will always continue to be,
the basics of honesty and integrity were very much part of the era the music I love originated in, so here is our friendly
and very efficient service we are proud to provide;

EVERY RECORD IS FULLY PLAYED AND COMES WITH A 'NO ARGUMENT' MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.
I USE GOOD OLD COMMON SENSE AS WELL AS A GLOBALLY ACCEPTED GRADING TERMINOLOGY
FROM THE U.K. "RECORD COLLECTOR PRICE GUIDE" BOOK.
THERE IT CLEARLY STATES "Sound Quality" AFFECTS EVERY GRADING LEVEL AND THAT IS THE ONE
AND ONLY POSSIBLE WAY TO ACCURATELY GRADE RECORDS. i.e. COMBINING A STRICT VISUAL
INSPECTION WITH VERY CLOSELY LISTENING TO EVERY SECOND, UNLESS PERHAPS IN THE CASE
OF GENUINELY UNPLAYED VINYL.  EVEN THEN WE STILL TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR A RECORD
WHEN A CUSTOMER RECEIVES EITHER A SEALED OR AN UNPLAYED RECORD.

We take 100% responsibility after an item has been posted and offer our fullest support in the event of any problems.

UNDER PAYPAL & EBAY'S GUIDELINES, ALL RECORDS WILL BE SENT VIA A FULLY INSURED TRACKABLE

We have kept all our charges at the same level for years now, but due to the Post Office's new price increases, regretfully we
will have to increase the cost of LP's, however, singles will remain unchanged.  Ebay were aware of that happening and have
increased their minimum postal cost for LP's to £7.00, that figure has been enforced by the UK Post Office and it will become
our UK First Class, Recorded Delivery cost for albums up to the value of £46.  A temporary reduction this week means we can
now post LP's for £5, but who knows how long before the Post Office return to £7?

For LP's valued above £46, the cost will be £9, we are unhappy about either increase but our high standard of packaging has meant
in 13 years of ebay trading, there has not been one record damaged, we are determined to maintain that in the present and future.

IN THE UK RECORDS UP TO THE VALUE OF £46 WILL BE SENT RECORDED DELIVERY, OVER £46 WILL BE
SENT SPECIAL DELIVERY.
FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD ALL RECORDS WILL BE SENT VIA 'INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR.'
