Why should I care?
  Why should I care?

  Girls of fifteen,
  Sexually knowing,
  The ushers are sniffing,
  Eau-de-cologning.

  The seats are seductive,
  Celibate sitting,
  Pretty girls digging,
  Prettier women.

  Magically bored,
  On a quiet street corner,
  Free frustration,
In our minds and our toes.

  Quiet storm water,
  M...m...my generation,
  Uppers and downers,
  Either way blood flows.

  Inside outside, leave me alone,
  Inside outside, nowhere is home,
Inside outside, where have I been?
Out of my brain on the 5:15,
Out of my brain on the train,
Out of my brain on the train.

  A raft in the quarry,
  Slowly sinking,
  Back of a lorry,
  Holy hitching.

  Dreadfully sorry,
  Apple scrumping,
  Born in a war,
  Birthday punching.

  He-man drag,
  In the glittering ballroom,
  Gravely outrageous,
  In my high heel shoes.

  Tightly undone,
  Know what they're showing,
  Sadly ecstatic,
  That their heroes are news.

  Inside outside, leave me alone,
  Inside outside, nowhere is home,
Inside outside, where have I been?
Out of my brain on the 5:15,
Out of my brain on the train,
Out of my brain on the train, on the train,
  I'm out of my brain.

Out of my brain on the train,
  Here it comes,
Out of my brain, on the train, on the train,
Out of my brain on the train.

  Why should I care?
  Why should I care?
THE WHO: "5:15" / "Water" UK SINGLE, ISSUED 23rd SEPTEMBER, 1973.
The mix was so different to the version on the "Quadrophenia"album, it is now referred as the 'single mix,' there was also
about  40 seconds shaved off the album  version.   Editing was minimal for such a long track, but along with a unique B-side
and a completely different mix, the "5:15" single is an essential and integral part of the "Quadrophenia"album.

"Water" would have perfectly fitted on the "Quadrophenia" album, the 'water'connection was very strong in the storyline and a
a track from the double album recording sessions.  "Water" is a truly great song with an outstanding Roger Daltrey vocal, Pete's
lyrics concern the ordinary working man, superbly performed by the Who a with a blues / rock backing with some inspired lead
guitar from Pete Townshend.  They held "Water" back to pair with the only single issued from the "Quadrophenia" double album,
"5:15" was the key song on the album.  Was there a better rhyming lyric within only seven words than summed up the Mod era
and just about any teenager?
"Out of my brain on the train"
I know I am supposed to be detailing the pressing and condition of the record, but sometimes I can't help commenting on the
contents of records.  Plus I have just been playing and describing an unplayed Mint, "Who's Next" album, I don't think anyone
could not be affected after that album.   Especially how it finished with the sensational "Won't Get Fooled Again" leaving you
completely blown away......again!   The rarity of an unplayed "5:15" single is best illustrated by saying the last time I listed
one was, 2002, this was part of a fantastic collection of Who singles in unbelievable condition. If I end up giving all the details
of the contents here and now, it's because the contents is so important.  Rare because the single struggled to sell in 1973
and never climbed any higher than No.20 in the UK charts, released in September, 1973, that meant it was issued a month before
the "Quadrophenia" album in October, 1973.   Amazingly the "5:15" single was never released in America, instead the USA single
was "Love, Reign O'er Me" paired with"The Real Me." So I must discuss the extraordinary single mix unique to Europe only,
the album mix was more concerned with the sound effects and the general channel separation stereo effects, but even without
the more 'soundscape' orientated album stereo, the actual impact and sheer dynamics of the single mix hits you with such power,
you can only name the album mix as 'tame.'  I am a massive Who fan and that makes perfect sense to me, the album was full of
wonderful sounds like the sea on the beach, personally recorded by Pete of course and even the steps on the beach crunched
on the sand.  The wind was used to carry Roger's voice and it was a triumph of an album.... but the Who always made the most
stunning singles of all time, psychedelia or not in the late 1960's, Who singles impacted with a tremendous velocity and that was
why the single mix was so incredible and completely different.   That can only be found on the original single, I am accustomed
to the UK first pressing and cannot comment about any of the European singles, did they have the same single mix? I cannot say,
bit I can say that mix does not exist on any CD or digitally remixed vinyl.  Analogue or....analogue is indeed important enough
to discuss inner sleeves and machine stamped after the amazing and exclusive mix and B-side.  This single was issued in 1973,
but rare or not, it "Water" as not included on the 1974, "Odds & Sods" album, even though it was rounding up all the material of
this very exclusivity , I think I had better get on with the pressing details because as well as being so special, the single itself was
breaking through with new ways of presenting records!

All UK "5:15" singles were pressed with a silver colour injected ink moulded plastic label, provided the record was unplayed,
the odd streak or ink line was not from  use or wear, but how the black subsurface reacted to the injected ink.  Unlike paper
labels, that were conventionally pre-printed and attached to the record when the vinyl was still 'tacky'.  That also made the
run-out grooves indexing details like the maitrix less clear due to this early innovation from Polydor / Polygram this early.
A silver colour with black printing worked exceptionally well and when EMI introduced injected ink moulded plastic labels in
the 1980's, they also used the same colour scheme.

THE FIRST EVER SILVER & BLACK TRACK RECORDS LABEL: 2094  115.

MAITRIX: MAITRIX: 2094 0115     A // 1   1    1    /  2094 0115 - B ▽ 2      2     1 1*
* A mistaken '1' digit was crossed out and '2' was stamped so close to the crossing out, it was touching it.  As it happens, this
record was so perfectly stamped in the run-out, the maitrix was as perfectly clear as records with paper labels.  Considering
how early this was for injected ink moulded plastic labels in 1973, all credit to Polydor for the precision involved without real
experience.

RARE ORIGINAL 1973 Track Records 7" SLEEVE AND UNIQUE TO THE VERY FIRST PRESSING ONLY, A PURPLE COLOUR
BUT NOT PRINTED WITH ANY TEXT OR EVEN 'Track Records.'  Basically a wavy top Polydor sleeve custom printed purple, the
rest were placed in p[lain white sleeves.   Unused, with a record impression and related light creases and some minor edge
rubbing, the extra height of the moulded raised track just before the run-out grooves always rubbed the thin paper.  No tears
or splits though and great to see one without the extensive damage of frequently played records, or just poor storage.
THE RARE Tracks SLEEVE IS IN EXCELLENT+++ CONDITION.

THE RECORD IS VERY RARE UNPLAYED, MINT CONDITION

I have just about exhausted everything I could say about this one and only "Quadrophenia" single, a stunning single on both
sides that contain exclusive Who recording's at their very peak of their collective career.

  R & M RECORDS.

My lifetime's love of music and records began at a very young age, the arrival of the Beatles and the 1960's decade
in general had a very profound effect. It was only natural to bring all my first hand experience of collecting vinyl
into becoming a professional record seller.  Nearly thirty years ago we entered into the wonderful atmosphere
of record fairs with the highest possible standards set. When the Internet became the world's new market place for
vinyl, in 2001 it was time to join ebay. Those standards were rigidly adhered to as they will always continue to be,
the basics of honesty and integrity were very much part of the era the music I love originated in, so here is our friendly
and very efficient service we are proud to provide;

EVERY RECORD IS FULLY PLAYED AND COMES WITH A 'NO ARGUMENT' MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.
I USE GOOD OLD COMMON SENSE AS WELL AS A GLOBALLY ACCEPTED GRADING TERMINOLOGY
FROM THE U.K. "RECORD COLLECTOR PRICE GUIDE" BOOK.
THERE IT CLEARLY STATES "Sound Quality" AFFECTS EVERY GRADING LEVEL AND THAT IS THE ONE
AND ONLY POSSIBLE WAY TO ACCURATELY GRADE RECORDS. i.e. COMBINING A STRICT VISUAL
INSPECTION WITH VERY CLOSELY LISTENING TO EVERY SECOND, UNLESS PERHAPS IN THE CASE
OF GENUINELY UNPLAYED VINYL.  EVEN THEN WE STILL TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR A RECORD
WHEN A CUSTOMER RECEIVES EITHER A SEALED OR AN UNPLAYED RECORD.

We take 100% responsibility after an item has been posted and offer our fullest support in the event of any problems.
"There Are No Problems, Only Solutions" (John Lennon)

WEIGH A LITTLE EXTRA.

UNDER PAYPAL & EBAY'S GUIDELINES, ALL RECORDS WILL BE SENT VIA A FULLY INSURED TRACKABLE

We have kept all our charges at the same level for years now, but due to the Post Office's new price increases, regretfully we
will have to increase the cost of LP's, however, singles will remain unchanged.  Ebay were aware of that happening and have
increased their minimum postal cost for LP's to £7.00, that figure has been enforced by the UK Post Office and it will become
our UK First Class, Recorded Delivery cost for albums up to the value of £46.  A temporary reduction this week means we can
now post LP's for £5, but who knows how long before the Post Office return to £7?

For LP's valued above £46, the cost will be £9, we are unhappy about either increase but our high standard of packaging has meant
in 13 years of ebay trading, there has not been one record damaged, we are determined to maintain that in the present and future.

IN THE UK RECORDS UP TO THE VALUE OF £46 WILL BE SENT RECORDED DELIVERY, OVER £46 WILL BE
SENT SPECIAL DELIVERY.
FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD ALL RECORDS WILL BE SENT VIA 'INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR.'
