MINT : I don't use this grade, because no any record sounds perfect. Though the most of my NM and VG+ graded records look perfect! 

NM (NEAR MINT): Record appear virtually flawless. A very minor scuff and very little else can appear on the vinyl. The flaw should be very hard to see. It should play without any noise over the flaw. The cover should look as close to perfect with only minor signs of wear and or age. The artwork should be as close to perfect as can be.

VG+ (VERY GOOD PLUS): Record will show wear, surface scuffs and some very light scratches. Surface scuffs are caused from blunt (not sharp) objects. Often the minor scuffs are caused from inner sleeves. The flaws may cause very light surface noise. Most VG+ records play close to a NM record. Clicking scratches are not acceptable. The artwork should look clean with slightly more aging. The corners could be slightly weared.

VG (VERY GOOD): A Very Good record will appear well played but still have some luster. More and more surface scuffs and scratches, and audible sound defects could be heard. They should not overpower the dynamics of the music and should only be heard in between tracks or in low musical passages. VG overs will look worn, used. There will be some ring wear, where the ink has begun to wear off. There may be some writing on the cover. 

G (GOOD): A good record will look very well played. It will have distracting surface noise. Such as crackle that is continuous or some hiss. It should play without any skips or any obtrusively loud pops or repeated clicks, caused by deep scratches. Good means that it will play with some form of decency, so one can still enjoy the music even though you can still hear noise caused from the wear. A good cover may have seam splits, magic marker writing, signs of water damage. 

All records are examined carefully visually and by play grade. The records that have no visual surface marks are listened about 30-60 seconds at the beginning of each side. If the marks discovered, I listen to the marked places. Results are displayed at RECORD CONDITION DETAILS if defects are audible and louder than surface noise. Testing equipment: REGA PLANAR 3 with DYNAVECTOR DV-20XL cartridge, ROTEL 900 Series Amplification, B&W MATRIX 805 speakers, WIRE WORLD cables.
