8" 78 rpm (or more) DISQUE DUTRIEH VERTICAL CUT RECORD
Label is blind-etched, with pink paint added. (The flash washed out the pink, and made the black record look brown.)
I don't know the catalog number. There are four sets of numbers, two on each side, and none match another.
Both sides sung by a Mr. Muratore, probably Lucien Muratore, a famous French tenor who sang extensively in the U.S. as well.
One side is from La Traviata (Verdi): "Buvon jusqua la lie," and the other is from Mignon (Thomas): "Elle na coyait pas."
Record shows two scuffs and no scratches. The is a vertical cut record and plays from the inside out. My record player has a problem with that, but I did manage to listen to quite a bit. Surface noise is average. Sleeve is original, and actually in pretty good shape besides parts where tape was removed (or remains.
NOTE: I DONT GRADE LABELS -- see pictures for that information. I use the eBay record grading system when listing 78's, which is mostly based on visual observation of the wax, shellac, or vinyl. KEEP IN MIND THAT ALMOST ALL OLD 78's HAVE SURFACE NOISE WHEN PLAYED ON MODERN EQUIPEMENT (except the extremely well-made records). It's only distracting surface noise, as well as pops or jumps, that may affect grading.
ALL THE RECORDS I LIST COME FROM ONE COLLECTION, THAT OF JAMES M. KENNEY OF NEW WINDSOR, MARYLAND. HE WAS ONE OF THE EAST COAST'S LARGEST AUDIO AND ELECTRONICS COLLECTORS.
