Description: Kings of the Wild Frontier is the second album from iconic early 80’s group, Adam and the Ants. The album was released in 1980 and typified the post-punk, ‘New Wave’ sound of the time.

The album was co-written by Adam Ant and Marco Pirroni (ex-Siouxsie and the Banshees), and was performed with a totally different backing band to that found on the Ants’ first record, Dirk Wears White Sox. The new line-up also consisted of two drummers which, alongside Pirroni’s new guitar sound, helped add to the mainstream success of the record.

The album went to the top of the UK album charts on January 24th, 1981, and propelled the band to the forefront of the ‘New Romantic’ movement. In 1982, after Kings of the Wild Frontier became 1981’s best-selling album, it won 'Best British Album’ at the Brit Awards; but just months later the band would split up.

Kings of the Wild Frontier spawned the hit singles, ‘Kings of the Wild Frontier’, ‘Dog Eat Dog’ and the classic, ‘Ant Music’.

The Cover Art The cover art for Kings of the Wild Frontier shows lead singer and pop icon Adam Ant in his recognisable quasi-military ‘New Romantic’ look striking an action pose, with his hands behind his head.
