WITH THE BEATLES
A 2nd pressing with a scarce side 2 layout & an ‘MT’ purchase tax code on Parlophone: PMC 1206
Matrices: XEX 447-7N & XEX 448-7N
Stamper codes: 3,10,14/GPP & 9/GHH
Vinyl weight: 166g
Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover & original 'Use Emitex..' lined inner-sleeve
CONDITION
Disc: NEAR MINT
Both playing surfaces appear ‘as new’ with just one or two small faint scuffs on side 1. Played just a handful of times the sound throughout is flawless.
Cover: EXCELLENT
Made from poor quality card which easily discoloured, so finding respectable examples is tough. This one has a clean and glossy front panel where the only sign of wear is a small ‘push’ to the opening edge. The rear panel has significant age-toning but is otherwise unmarked. All flipbacks, seams & the spine are fully intact.
A HARD DAY’S NIGHT
1st pressing from July 1964 with the earliest ‘chubby’ label font on Parlophone label: PMC 1230
Matrices: XEX 481-3N & XEX 482-3N
Stamper codes: 8/GAT & 6/GAD
Vinyl weight: 127g
Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover & original 'Use Emitex..' lined inner-sleeve.
CONDITION
Disc: EXCELLENT +
Played with care on quality equipment, the sound throughout is clean, clear and fully of the energy you expect of a first pressing. Each playing surface is perfectly clean & glossy with just some harmless wispy paper hairlines from the inner-sleeve visible beneath halogen light
Cover: EXCELLENT
A respectable example with an unworn high-gloss front laminate free from any ‘thumbnails’. The corners and opening edges are unworn. The rear panel bears some handling marks and a small nick to the lower flipback. Both seams and the fully worded spine are unworn & undamaged.
BEATLES FOR SALE
An late-1964 pressing on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1240
Matrices: XEX 503-4N & XEX 504-4N
Stamper codes: 3,8/ALG & 2,8/APD
Vinyl weight: 154g
Housed in an unusually pale outer laminated UK printed gatefold cover & original 'Use Emitex..' lined inner-sleeve.
CONDITION
Disc: EXCELLENT +
This great sounding copy has received a moderate amount of play on good equipment and sounds clear & unworn throughout. Visually both playing surfaces are clean & unworn with just some harmless marks from the inner-sleeve on side 2 only.
Cover: EXCELLENT
A highly respectable example of this fragile cover which as mentioned before is unusually pale compared with most other covers of its type. The delicate front leaf is clean & glossy with just a small bend to the lower and upper right areas but retains nice sharp edges. Inside both panels are clean & unblemished. The rear panel is glossy & unworn. The spine is intact with no tears at either end and all seams are smooth & unworn.
