Thought I Had It Made b/w You Can't Take Back Kisses-Herman Grimes (Red Bird RB 10-050) Released in March of 1966.
Though this single did not hit any pop chart, it did garner some regional play.
Hailing from Hazelwood, Missouri, Herman's Red Bird single would be Herman's 4th try for a pop hit. He would release a handful more, most notably on the Boot Heel label.
This is one of the better later Red Bird releases.
Whomever stamped the 'NR' (non-returnable) stamp on the label really went full force, since the stamps themselves were a bit bulky, is why the 'A' side label has ink residue on the right side.
* After noticing a few items sold by fellow sellers explaining the 'NR', this is what we did back in the late 1960's while working at a record store. When a customer would come in to return a record, any record, for any reason, it was our job to stamp 'NR' on the label, then we shipped the record back to the distributor. This means the record may have had a defect, or was returned for some other reason. Once the distributor received the product with the stamp, they were no longer able to sell the item at full price, so they were either marked down for discount sale, or returned to the record company for credit.
As some sellers are advertising, 'NR' does not mean it is a 'promo copy', or 'DJ copy'. It simply means it was returned.
