Bold indicates this record's grading: Very good condition - multiple visible surface marks/scratches that will create some surface noise but should be no major skips or other issues Excellent condition - too many minor visible surface marks classify as near mint - may have a small amount of surface noise Near mint condition  - virtually no visible surface marks, from none to maybe one or two very light scratches or smudges and dust Mint - reserved only for sealed albums I do not pre-clean albums. I have found that there are too many differing opinions as to the "preferred" method/solution.
Record grading is very subjective no matter what kind of scale you use so my judgement may not be the same as you. I try to grade on the conservative side just to be safe and so far have sold hundreds of records to satisfied customers.
