THE BEATLES
“THE BEATLES’ FIRST”
WOW!! WOW!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and hard-to-find original Hi-Fi Stereo very first press released in Chile in 1964 by Polydor Records, made and distributed by Discos Philips (Philips Records), licensed from the Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft, catalog number 237 632, with machine etched matrix numbers 237632 A D4 +-K in Side 1 and 237632 B D4 +-K in Side 2, with red/black Polydor Records labels and white “Polydor”. Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile for all The Beatles fans and collectors worldwide!!!
“THE BEATLES’ FIRST” was originally released in 1964 by German Polydor as a way to take some profit for the growing “Beatlemania”, adding to the songs of the 1961 release “My Bonnie” by Tony Sheridan and The Beat Brothers some extra material recorded by The Beatles in Germany in 1961 under the name The Beat Brothers, and the same year this 12 tracks compilation it was released in Chile, and like in most of the cases of that period, we got this album with an UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE!!! The cover is a thin cardboard folded in the middle so 3 sides keep open and are kept together by a plastic bag. Front cover has the album title written in English only in a design using the UK flag colors with the hair of each Beatle with a medal below the hair, with Polydor Records logo and catalog number and the words “We’d like to record a record… we are The Beatles – Hamburg - 1961” at bottom right corner. Back cover is simple, with album title written in English only, the tracklist written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters and additional information in the first song, “Ain’t She Sweet”, because it’s informed John Lennon on vocal, with a long review about The Beatles in Germany, the story of the recordings and the assistance of Bert Kaempfert, in 1961. In labels the album title is also written in English only, with tracklist written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters and for John Lennon on vocal in the first song. How this record became released here in Chile the same year it was released in Germany, it’s impossible to know, but we got it and if you know those German issues, you will have noticed here in Chile we also got the same German catalog number. Just consider this album was released in UK in 1967! This record was released in Chile in both Mono and Stereo, the very first press was on Mono, with catalog number 46 432, and the second press was on Stereo, with catalog number 237 632, the same German Polydor catalog numbers for Mono and Stereo versions!!!
So, here you have another chance to get one of the rarest records by The Beatles released worldwide with an UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE. Hans Pokora includes this record as one of the rarest covers by The Beatles around the world and gives a level of rarity of 3/6 for the Mono version. So far I know, Stereo versions are harder to find than Mono versions, but no matter if this record is Mono or Stereo, in both cases you get this MEGARARE COVER considered one of the rarest covers of The Beatles discography worldwide!!! And here you have that chance!!! WOW!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in G+ or VG- condition, with creases and many little rips in all edges, more evident in the mouth edge, with a small missing part in front cover, blemishes and age browning, a name written in front cover and a long seam split in the spine which doesn’t really affect the look of the cover because this king of so fragile covers don’t have a real spine, it’s only a cardboard folded in the middle, not so nice at first sight but still in a very nice shape for the real collector who knows how much rare this cover is. The record isn’t so thick like usual Odeon Records releases of The Beatles here in Chile but it’s in superb VG or VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean but with many scuffs, hairlines and some light scratches which don’t affect play at all. Labels are in EX or EX+ condition both sides, absolutely clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear and two names written in Side 1. The sound is the best part of this record, it’s in strong EX- or EX condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), only some soft crackles and occasional light pops and clicks, more evident in the silent parts, which of course don’t cause any distraction from the superb audio this record keeps from the beginning to the end, but I’d recommend a vacuum cleaning anyway. Overall, sure this record isn’t for strict Minty minds or audiophiles, but if you know the level of rarity this record has you will consider the cover in still a nice shape, the record has a very glossy look and it keeps an amazing sound quality after more than 50 years, a record to see and hear to enjoy from the beginning to the end, no repetitions, no sticks, no jumps, no distortions at all. And keep in mind this is one of the rarest records of The Beatles worldwide and it has an UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE!!! WOW!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the cover and labels in detail.
Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a copy of this RARE record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…
Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile.
_________________________________________________________
We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new
condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some
very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The
cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in
like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is
very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t
affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays
no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and
the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items,
without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has
noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The
cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits,
discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly
and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface
noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
