The first two issues were on the black and gold design label and the first yellow & black issue lacked the Recording First Published text & retained the small 33 1/3 after the matrix number of the first two pressings. The second yellow & black removed the small 33 1/3 print.
This is therefore technically the fifth issue still from 1963 and still with matrix numbers ending -1.
The labels:
Black and Yellow Parlophone in design with The Parlophone Co Ltd perimeter & Recording First Published label text.
As this is a 1963 pressing there is no Sold in the UK text across the centre of the label.
The Sleeve:
The Ernest J. Day front laminated flipback picture sleeve has the large block mono logo on the front & benefits from bright colours but does have several splits around the edges. There is scuffing & chipping to the laminate with weakening to the panels yet it remains intact with no writing & the text is legible including along the spine. An acceptable example.
Vinyl:
The vinyl has obviously been played but retains a deep sheen both sides & sounds superb. The record has been professionally cleaned & comes complete with a clean Use Emitex inner. There are some spindle marks around the centre hole but otherwise the grading easily reaches Very Good soundwise making for a stark contrast to the sleeve. The package is conservatively G overall but remains a very playable & nice vinyl copy of this early fifth installation despite the shortcomings of the sleeve.
An iconic classic from the Fabs that should be in everyones record collection.
By no means mint this is a nice opportunity to pick up an early pressing at a fair price.
