This listing is for a SEALED ORIGINAL FIRST PRESS (US) 3 PCS LP BOX SET of George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass, released by APPLE RECORDS in late 1970. It’s primary distinguishing feature is the highly coveted and  * VERY RARE *  TRANSPARENT * HYPE STICKER * on the front cover side. The hype sticker promotes the bonus FULL COLOR POSTER that comes inside the box set.

This is a HIGHLY-COLLECTIBLE box set and a valuable addition to any vinyl collectors’ library. This original first issue by Apple Records is the MOST SOUGHT AFTER edition and by extension the HARDEST TO COME BY, so to find a copy that’s in comparable condition to this one and STILL FACTORY SEALED is extremely rare, hence the album’s higher price tag.

Following its worldwide release, the album went no to TOP CHARTS AROUND THE WORLD and to earn UNIVERSAL ACCLAIM AS A “ROCK MASTERPIECE.”  The album’s opening track “My Sweet Lord” (co-written by George Harrison & Bob Dylan) became the No. 1 Hit Single in both the US & UK — also marking the first time any of the Beatles had a solo single make it to the No. 1 spot.

This November will be the 50TH ANNIVERSARY of the release of George Harrison’s masterpiece, “All Things Must Pass.”

The hype sticker advertises the full color poster that is included as a promotional bonus when you buy the box set. The 3rd LP “Apple Jam” is similarly advertised as a free bonus record you get when you buy the set.

The box came with a huge poster of George Harrison (36″ x 24″). In both the US and the UK, the album came out in a black box with a matte, monochrome shot of Harrison on the front, sitting like an elf (complete with accompanying garden gnomes) in the garden of his Friar Park mansion.

Each of the album’s inner sleeves is a different color; complete with the printed lyrics to the songs it contained. Record 1 is in a light blue sleeve, Record 2 is in a grey sleeve, and Record 3, “Apple Jam,” is in a mustard colored inner sleeve.

50TH ANNIVERSARY It’s worth remembering that this year, 2020, November will mark 50 years since George Harrison released his masterpiece, “All Things Must Pass.”

DISCOGRAPHY:

All Things Must Pass was released by Apple Records in November 1970. Co-produced by Harrison and Phil Spector, many musicians contributed to the album, including Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, Pete Drake, Gary Wright, Klaus Voormann, members of Badfinger, players from Delaney and Bonnie band, and John Barham.

It was the first triple LP ever released by a solo artist. Harrison had so many songs – many of them stored up from his Beatles days – that they sprawled across 2 LPs, plus a third disc called “Apple Jam” which was just that: George and his mates jamming in the studio.

The triple-LP topped charts around the world and earned universal acclaim as a rock masterpiece. George became the first Beatle to have a solo No. 1 single in both the U.K. and the U.S. with the album's lead single, "My Sweet Lord," which introduced his signature slide guitar playing. Harrison co-wrote the album's opening track, "I'd Have You Anytime" with his friend Bob Dylan, who also wrote another song on the landmark album, "If Not For You."

WHY IS THIS ALBUM LISTED AS "USED" INSTEAD OF "NEW"?

I get asked this question a lot. The answer is simple: NEW, by definition, means a recent production of something that has never been previously owned. All of my records are original vintage vinyls that have all been previously owned and therefore must be considered used despite never being opened. This is called "USED NEW OLD STOCK" which means that the album was previously owned, but it was NEVER BEEN OPENED OR REMOVED FROM THE MANUFACTURER'S ORIGINAL FACTORY SEALED PLASTIC SHRINK WRAP. If you still have questions, feel free to send me a message.

PLEASE REFERENCE PHOTOS FOR ACCURATE LOOK AT CONDITION

Please take care to look at all photographs very closely as they are the best accounting of the record's condition. I took care to provide the best true-to-life photographs I could, including angles from the album's front, back, and sides as well as close-ups of its corners and any notable flaws. It is the buyer's responsibility to review them closely, so there are no surprises when the album arrives.

ABOUT MY RECORDS

I inherited all of my vinyl from the private collection of a 25+ year London Records Executive who worked for the label in New York City during the 60s, 70s, and into the late-80s. He held a senior role at the label, which allowed him unique insider access to many original first press editions when they were first released in the US as well as some rare test pressings. He worked directly on US marketing and promotion for The Rolling Stones throughout most of the 1960s when they were at the height of their fame, which is why I have so many early pressings of their albums. The collection overall is vast and diverse with a myriad of albums and artists spanning more than 30-40 years and over a dozen music genres. The lion’s share fall into three main categories: Rock, Classical Symphony & Opera, and Jazz.
