THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO Torso MONO East Coast pressing as indicated by the "Side 1 and Side 2" as opposed to side A and B for west coast pressings. There is also a "S" symbol etched in the runouts and a "8" symbol.
1st U.S. version featuring Warhol Factory actor Eric Emerson visible on back cover that was quickly stickered over then airbrushed out in subsequent pressings, this is a super early edition!!!
Full banana on front cover, VERY rare to find in this state. Verve Inner sleeve is also included for a full package for this title.
Rare MONO version with different mix to the more common Stereo edition. The songs benefit from the Mono mix with fuller bass and a much fuller and more satisfying listening experience. The Stereo sound thinner and rocks less than the Mono.
Produced by Andy Warhol, this is one of the most iconic rock albums of the 60's featuring original art by Warhol on the cover and title. Getting harder and harder to come by, this is a complete edition.
VINYL in VG+ overall condition, side 1 is VG/VG+, has some areas of very light paper scuffs especially in the very beginning of the record, causes some background light crackle here and there especially in the very beginning but cleans up nicely. Side 2 is VG++ with very few super light paper scuffs, and 3 small surface marks that do not affect play at all. Solid copy!!!
This is not a audiophile pressing to begin with, it is recorded pretty lo-fi especially the songs recorded in 1966 at Quine. Even super clean copies have background crackle on this title for what I have seen, this is a solid copy, test played all the way, sounds excellent!
COVER in VG with full banana intact with wrinkling and some fading at the tip which was removed then replaced at some point. The tip has a split where it was removed, no sections appear to be missing. Cutout hole on bottom section, small "X" stamped on back cover. a few tiny holes on top of front and back cover, probably from the record being hung at some point. Light ring wear on back, The front has a section at the top near the banana with a small section of paper loss, not too bad (see photos). Chipping/rubbing on spine, intact but not fully readable. The top seam has splitting near the gatefold about 1", and chipping along the edge of the open gatefold near the top and bottom edges. Top seam split 4" from the opening. Corner bumps.
INNER SLEEVE in VG with some yellowing/staining. Edges split in middle about 1".

The actor Eric Emerson, protagonist of some multimedia films projected behind the group during the EPI, filed a lawsuit against the record label for the non-payment of the rights regarding his image that can be seen upside down on the back cover on this version. So between March and April 1967 the album was suddenly withdrawn from trade and shops. After a few months, the album was redistributed in a few copies with a huge sticker that covered the top of the offending photo.
