You are bidding on what appears to be a demo of an unpublished and/or unreleased Rod McKuen song.

From Wikipedia: Rodney Marvin McKuen (April 29, 1933 – January 29, 2015) was an American poet, singer-songwriter, and actor. He was one of the best-selling poets in the United States during the late 1960s. Throughout his career, McKuen produced a wide range of recordings, which included popular music, spoken word poetry, film soundtracks and classical music. He earned two  nominations and one  nomination for his music compositions. McKuen's translations and adaptations of the songs of  were instrumental in bringing the Belgian songwriter to prominence in the English-speaking world. His poetry deals with themes of love, the natural world and spirituality. McKuen's songs sold over 100 million recordings worldwide, and 60 million books of his poetry were sold as well

I don't know when this recording was made, nor when it was written but here's what I can tell you:

This is an approximately 10", one-sided one-off recording made at Associated Recording Studios in New York. The title of the song is "Fred," and written in pen is "Lyrics by Gladys Shelley, Music by Rod McKuen." I don't know who made this notation. I have no way to play this, so I leave it to the buyer to buy AS-IS.

I did a search for the song and found nothing on the Internet. Thus my suggestion that this may be a one-of-a-kind.

What I can see as far as condition is that the disc has obvious warping to one side. In my inexpert opinion someone who knows what they're doing could easily correct this. I've given several angles to try to show this warping but I'm not sure if this comes across visually.

There are some what appear to be stress lines which lead into the first grooves in 2 places, and there are multiple light to medium scratches and scuffs. On the other hand, if I didn't think this was salvageable at worst, and at best the rescue of a piece of music history, I wouldn't auction it in the first place. My mother was a singer as knew Gladys; when my mom passed, I inherited this.

I'm putting on an opening bid of $200, with the option to make an offer. If you want to go higher, fine. If you want to offer lower, please include the reason for the bid and I will consider it.

Please look at my photos and judge condition for yourself. I tweaked one of the pictures to make the writing clear. Again, there is no guarantee this will play to your satisfaction or play at all, and I offer it AS-IS.

This is from a smoke-free and Covid-Free home.
