THE BEATLES: MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR EP MONO BLUE PAGES/SOLID CENTRE. Tested. VG+.

PLAY TESTED FEBRUARY 10th. AUDIO VG+

MMT 2EP, Parlophone MMT-1, December 1967.

Laminated gatefold 24page sleeve/booklet, with light blue lyric sheet (indicative of first pressings). Mono sleeves have ‘MMT-1’ and ‘MONO’ in white in the upper right rear corner. Sleeves and booklet printed by Garrod & Lofthouse, with the records originally housed in white die-cut wave top inners.

The first pressing, with black label and silver print. ‘Gramophone’ perimeter print; publishing year as (p) 1967, with ‘Sold In U.K.’ Tax code KT.

AUDIO. VG+

Disc 1.

Some surface noise/static on intros to both sides, and light crackle between tracks. Some crackle and pop on the opening 20/30 secs of ‘Walrus’ and run out.

Disc 2.

Again, some surface noise/static on intros to both sides, and into first 10/20 secs of ‘Fool’. Couple of ‘pops’ as ‘Flying’ runs out.

VINYL. VISUAL.

Both discs lay flat to the turntable, with neither having anything other than hairlines/light marks. Vinyl retains its glossy sheen.

Bright, clean, and well defined, with just light spindle ware.

SLEEVE/BOOKLET. VG+/EXCELLENT

The laminated first press blue page sleeve is VG++/Excellent.

Just some relatively light ware/edgeware to top left and bottom right corner.

No rips/tares/graffiti to any of the booklet pages, with it being strong and clean, with all staples in place, with no loose pages.

INNERS. ORIGINAL WAVE TOP DIE-CUT. WHITE.

It’s rare to find the original wave top inners still in tact with the MMT EP, and though both have some creasing and light yellowing, they are minimum G+, with one having some very small tares to the window and a little staining. No seam splits/graffiti.

So in conclusion, this is a 1st press Mono of The Beatles MMT EP, with blue pages, original wave top inners, with VG+ audio. Overall, a lovely example of this seminal work.
